Strategy Objectives 1: To support and develop the Fair Trade movement in Wales 2: To build on our success as a leader in Fair Trade education 3: To embed Fair Trade into Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship (ESDGC) 4: To improve public awareness of, and support, for Fair Trade 5: To support and influence public policy 6: To promote Fair Trade within business

Strategy – Objective 1: To support and develop the Fair Trade movement in Wales 1.1 By March % of universities will have Fair Trade status – 100% 1.2 By March % of towns will have a Fairtrade group and 50% will have Fair Trade status - 76% and 46% 1.3 By March % of cities will have Fairtrade status %  1.4 FTW will work with the Church in Wales to establish in Wales the world's first Fair Trade province by June % achieved (70% by April 2015 and announced on 20/7/15)  1.5 By March 2015 every Local Authority will have Fairtrade Status and will support the Fair Trade goals more widely – 82% , 4 more to achieve 1.6 By 2015 every county has the opportunity to participate in a link with an international producer – 18 in Fairtrade Fortnight, 2 others incl Lebanon  1.7 At least 70% of Fair Trade groups in Wales will feel rewarded and motivated – 100% of groups feel rewarded and supported through an annual survey of 38 groups

Strategy – Objective 2: To build on our success as a leader in Fair Trade education 2.1 By March % of schools will be registered on the Fairtrade Schools Scheme – 63%, up by 8% 2.2 By March % of schools will have Fairtrade status – 13% = New scheme in place. 21% of all Fairtrade Schools in the UK ( 6.7% representative)  2.3 By March 2014 International Link to Producer Schools scheme will be piloted and by March a link will have occurred in 50% of the counties – Fairtrade Voices project in linked 6 schools with 6 producers and businesses. 6 school visits in Fairtrade Fortnight each year.  2.4 By March 2015 resources will be created & maintained appropriately and shared with 100% of schools and appropriate education networks in Wales, schools receive regular communications. Fair Trade resource as part of the Literacy Numeracy Framework/Global Learning Partnership/ International Education Programme. New Fair Trade Voices Project and website being launched in 2015

Strategy – Objective 3: To embed Fair Trade into Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship (ESDGC) 3.1 We will work with others to seek to ensure that support for ESDGC is maintained by the Welsh Government, year on year – Part of a new alliance ( Wales Allicance for Global Education) working to promote and support Global Education 3.2 FTW is identified and remains a key support and contributor to ESDGC – Part of the WG International Education Programme, live-links, resources, Teacher Training delivery.  3.3 By March 2015 Fair Trade will be developed within ESDGC (in both formal and informal settings including Work Based Learning; adult education; community education, and those not in education, employment or training) Work ongoing. Producer visits to Further Ed and Work Based Learning facilities  3.4 By March 2015, Fair Trade resources will be available to both formal and informal education settings (see above) 3 new resources incl website in 2015 3.5 FTW will provide advice to the scouts and brownies movement include Fair Trade criteria by March 2015.Fairtrade is an optional challenge for scouts and cubs

Strategy – Objective 4: To improve public awareness of, and support, for Fair Trade  4.1 In March % of the Welsh public will be aware of Fair Trade TNS / Globescan Survey by Fairtrade Foundation shows 81% for Wales and 79% for UK, with 90% for young people UK 4.2 By March 2015 key relationships will have been maintained and new ones developed across all sectors. Ongoing development & maintainence 4.3 By March 2015 the international profile and recognition of Fair Trade Wales will be increased and Wales will be seen as a world leader in Fair Trade. Significant development in this area, incl Lebanon, Oslo, Poland. British Association of Fair Trade Shops& Suppliers AGM speaker, Member of the International Fair Trade Towns network, & links with Fair Trade Advocacy Office & World Fair Trade Organisation 4.4 By June 2013 we will have developed and launched a Communications & Media strategy. Actioned and being delivered. Will be reviewed in 2015 4.5 Annual reports will indicate 250 media hits p.a regarding Fair Trade in welsh local and national press Estimate of 3-5 media hits a week = ( Google Analytics & media screens, & partners) Increased TV & Radio presence again this year. In FT14, brought £27k worth of advertising through social media

Strategy – Objective 5: To support and influence public policy  5.1 By March 2015 we will have influenced the public sector to review its existing spending on tea, coffee and sugar and convert to Fairtrade Wellbeing of Future Generations Act has a global goal. Work ongoing. 5.2 By March 2015 we will have influenced the public sector to review its existing spending on sports balls and switch to Fairtrade Fairtrade in Football campaign being supported. New balls launched and Cardiff Sports Club piloted.  5.3 By March 2015 we will have influenced the public sector to review its existing spending on cotton and convert to Fairtrade cotton. 2 schools piloted including Cathays High School who have since placed a whole school order 5.4 By March 2015 we will have increased support for Fair Trade by public bodies See 5.1  5.5 Fair Trade will be supported by future Welsh legislation See 5.1

Strategy – Objective 6: To promote Fair Trade within business  6.1 FTW will work in partnership with business to seek new ways of developing Fair Trade marketing opportunities European Union bid with 11 partners in 9 countries was not successful, looking for other opportunities 6.2 FTW will work in partnership with others to strengthen the link with business to identify Fair Trade suppliers Bid into Wales for Africa programme for 3 year business project (to be launched in Jan 2016) 6.3 FTW will undertake a review of current Fair Trade at work policies with the aim that the number of companies adopting such policies will increase by 5% per year. Bid into WfA programme for 3 year business project (to be launched in Jan 2016)
