Journal Club: 1st Thursday of every month
Evidence Based Neurology: 3rd Wednesday of every month
M&M: Last Tuesday of every month
Clinic Didactics: Every Monday morning while you are on Clinic Block

4. NICU 10 weeks Five different shifts: Usual hours: Night float Board

Nights Signout 6:30 PM, until end of presentations ~8:30 AM

6. Ward (Merritt) Junior 10-11 weeks
Two teams led by PGY-3 or PGY-4, each with one Neuro PGY-2, and one rotator (psych PGY-1, medicine PGY-2, or neuro PGY-1)
Usually two attendings, sometimes only one
Hours M-F – teams alternate short and long call days
Short call: Signout 6-6:30 AM until 4-6 PM (depends on your colleagues’ work loads and if they can crosscover your patients). Assumes care of overnight admissions.
Long call: Signout 6-6:30 AM until 6 PM. Daytime admissions.
Weekend Saturday 24-hr: Every other weekend, alternating with “golden”
Ward Sunday Jr Pull**: Will pull based on Saturday census >15 patients

7. Stroke (Putnam) Junior
5-6 weeks
Team consists of: 1 attending, 1 stroke fellow, 1 Neurology PGY-3 or PGY-4, 1 Neurology PGY-2, 2 Anesthesia PGY-1s, and 1 Medicine PGY2
Hours M-F:
Signout 6-6:30 AM, 6 PM to JNF
Admissions are distributed by senior, no set call days
Sunday Junior/Senior: You will act as junior/senior. You will be with the attending, fellow, and an anesthesia PGY-1.
You should try to attend Stroke conference while you are on service

8. Junior Night Float 5-6 weeks
You will cross-cover all patients from Ward, Stroke, Grad, and EMU*. You will also admit patients for Grad and EMU (latter is rare).
Backup: 1) ANF 2) NICU fellow 3) CNF
Hours Sunday-Friday night
Signout 6 PM to 7:15 AM
2 nights a week you will act as ANF with a PA working JNF. On those mornings, you will present to stroke 7:30 AM to ~8 AM, and then Ward 8-9 AM. If there is a Grad admission, you will give signout to the NP at 7 AM
Off Saturday night

9. Admitting Night Float
2 weeks of dedicated block, plus 2 nights per week while on “JNF”
Dedicated block starts in the second half of the year
You will be responsible for all ED and direct admissions, and transfers from the NICU, outside hospitals, and rarely, other services, that are admitted to Ward and Stroke (and Grad if a PA is covering JNF).
CNF resident has already seen patients and will help with plan.
Direct admissions should be accompanied by detailing rationale for admission +/- plan. Can also look in Crown, and talk with NICU fellow.
Backup: 1) CNF 2) NICU fellow
Hours: Signout 7 PM. Must leave by 9 AM.

10. Pediatric EMU/Epilepsy service
4 weeks
Will have supervising attending, Child Neuro fellow (PGY-3 though PGY-5), and sometimes epilepsy fellow
Work shared with an NP.
Will be responsible for admissions, discharges, and follow-ups for (stable) PEMU patients, as well as “Epilepsy” patients that have an established CHONY pediatric neurologist, but are more active.
Hours M-F: 8:30-6:30 PM (Get signout from Adult PGY-3 or Peds Fellow, Give signout to Peds Nocturnist/Night Coverage)
Hours Sat: 7 AM-6:30 PM (Get and give signout to Peds Nocturnist/Night Coverage)

11. Adult EMU
2 weeks
Will be responsible for admissions, discharges, and follow-ups for (stable) PEMU patients, as well as “Epilepsy” patients that have an established CHONY pediatric neurologist, but are more active.
Work shared with NP, and supervised by Epilepsy fellow and attending.
Hours M-F: 8 AM-5:30 PM. Admissions/discharges in morning, EEG Reading Room in afternoon (NI-7).

12. Clinic 1 in every 6 weeks (total 8-9 weeks)
Usually in VC10 for general neurology or sub-specialty residents clinics, or Farrell for general neurology resident clinic
For PGY2s, every Monday and Tuesday afternoon you are not post- call, you will be in NI2 for general neurology practice (attending clinic)
Monday mornings there will be Clinic Report 9:30 AM, and didactics 10 AM– 12 PM
Friday afternoons will be Grand Rounds and time for professional development

13. Outpatient rotation 0-1 weeks
Set rotation each week through subspecialty practices (attending clinics), available on niresidents.org
Check attending schedule in Crown for when patients are scheduled
Hours M-F: 8:30 AM* to 5/5:30 PM
No weekend shifts
