11 Pre-Packaged Business Infrastructure
Three New Offerings enable you to... Accelerate exploitation of dynamic e-business for competitive advantage Single installation, single source for complete solution Implementation results seen in days, not months % cycle time reduction results Rely on integrated technology based on solid foundation Reach across the enterprise from host systems to customers Internet access for PC's, cell phones, PDA's supported Process integration inside and outside company boundaries Based on open standards, Web services Realize great return on investment IBM integrated solution costs less than multi-vendor competition $10M annual benefits cited at one key customer Development costs reduced 50% at another Talk about introducing offerings as a response to how we saw customers buying our products The landscape of e-business needs is undergoing significant change Speed has become a fundamental requirement for all projects - especially e-business - as companies seek first mover advantage and defend potential competitive preemption. The challenge is also increased by the shortage of skill technical resources. That is why in a survey of more than 400 customers, nearly half (48%) of enterprise customers surveyed prefer to purchase a completely integrated solution. You need to extend your e-business with integrated, tested technology that allows you to quickly take advantage of new markets and opportunities. WebSphere now offers prepackaged business infrastructure solutions that reduce integration costs and accelerate deployment time to meet your needs. The pilots we've been running with our prepackaged business infrastructure offerings show customer results such as: 30-50% cycle time reduction (AT&T with our Integration Technology) $10M+ benefits including revenue growth and cost reduction (Bekins - in their B2B shipping and tracking systems based on the WebSphere Software Platform) Dev cost reduced 50% at Hewitt Associates, and 50% code reuse for future applications at CareTouch These new Solutions are: WebSphere Business Integrator, WS User Experience and WS Everyplace Access

12 Delivering Dynamic e-business
Ability to Execute with the WebSphere Software Platform 50% Code reuse Financial benefit of $10.3M Reduced development cost 50% Application running in 90 days 7,000 certified professionals Reduced cycle time % These types of results articulate the gap between what can be achieved with "point technologies" and the business value that can be reached by exploiting our WebSphere software platform, no marketing "vision" or value proposition speaks nearly as strongly as your success. 16 Version 4.0 Configurations
RAS and Performance WebSphere for z/OS WAS Enterprise Edition Deployment QoS WAS Advanced Edition Version 4.0 configurations - Our single technology codebase is essentially an evolution of our Advanced Edition server. It includes full distributed workload management and clustering capabilites. We are also introducing a single server configuration of the server which I will cover in more detail on the following pages. - Standard Edition can also be thought of as a subset of Advanced Edition. We are focusing on Advanced edition here but it is important to notel we will continue to support Standard Edition which contains the most current level of java servlets and JSPs -- and we will be talking more about our plans for products in this space later this year. - Enterprise Edition for the first time includes the same runtime and then builds on that base with a set of enterprise services that increase the functionality and qualities of services to meet the needs of the most sophisticated e-businesses. TXSeries, a mission-critical transaction processing system is also included in Enterprise Edition. This announcement is focused on Advanced Edition but we do have a white paper providing detail on enterprise services and will be providing more informaiton as we approach availability for this edition later in the year. - Now that we have explained how Version 4.0 is a single technology base, lets look at the configurations we are offering out of the gate. We will continue to offer advanced, enteprise and z/os editions. Single Server Config Option Development--only Config Option Ease of Deployment Programming Model QoS J2EE & Web Services

It provides excellent performance and easy adminstration of single server multi-processor applications. - Customers and web integrators who have previewed this product have told us they think it a very competitive option for departments, small and medium businesses as well as for pilots for larger multi-server deployments. - It turns out that this configuration also meets the requirements we have been hearing from developers. They have asked us to provide the full programming model with minimal pre-reqs and a small footprint. - We have been increasingly focused on developer. In March 2001 we introduced the WebSphere Technology for Developers program featuring preview technology. We are in the process of rolling this program out more broadly (stay tuned). And, now we are providing a development-only license of the server for free. Electronic support is available through WebSphere Developer Domain in which we are investing heavily. We will talk more about developers in a few minutes. Development--only Config Option Programming Model QoS J2EE & Web Services

23 WebSphere Developer Value
Comprehensive Integrated Development Environment IBM AD = + Broad Middleware and Platform Support + Growing Developer Community + Leadership in Open Technologies The next set of charts will take you through the highlights of IBM's WebSphere Application Development Strategy, including some details for the May 30 launch. A critical element of the WebSphere platform's value to our customers is the value it provides developers -- and those that develop applications they purchase. WebSphere's integrated application development environment is a key addvantage for application developers. Available applications and available developer skills are essential to your success - and, consequently, the success of the WebSphere Platform. In addition to creating a comprehensive development environment, there are 3 other key elements to creating and delivering on IBM's application development strategy: 1. Broad Middleware and Platform Support 2. Creating and Maintaining a WebSphere developer community 3. Continuing leadership in open technologies. I'll expand on these key elements in the next chart.

24 WebSphere Application Development
A flexible and extensible development environment Comprehensive and integrated Broad middleware and platform support Full application development life cycle Leverage complementary third-party tools Integrated iRAD capabilities An integrated open programming model Leadership in open technologies and standards Rapid support for new technologies -- e.g., Web services, mobile, voice Tight integration with WebSphere Software Platform Expanding Business Partner and Developer community added value WebSphere Developer Domain, developerWorks, alphaWorks IBM/Partner Education and Training Design Patterns and Intellectual Assets -- e.g., templates, papers, etc. Providing the utmost in developer support requires more than a tool - or even a set of tools. It requires: 1. Delivering robust middleware supporting a consistent programming model across a broad set of operating systems and runtime environments; A critical component of this is creating a comprehensive and integrated development environment that addresses the full development life cycle, therefore increasing the effectiveness of our customers' development organizations. This CDE will also enhance 3rd party tools providers' ability to integrate their offerings in WebSphere's application development platform. ISVs participation is an essential part of our strategy and it ties to the next point: 2.Creating developer community support including education, training and Web-based information, support and collaboration; We are doing this in several ways, from Web-based early availability programs and communities, to expanding and opening our Business Partner and ISV programs. 3. Maintaining leadership in open technologies that enable the creation of applications based on these open standards therefore minimizing vendor lock-in and maximizing the skills resources in your organization. In addition, you have the ability to deploy your applications on the platform (this means either operating system or hardware or app server) that makes the most sense for your goals, while maintaining the portability that will allow you to grow as your needs change. Through increased support for open standards, tighter integration with the WebSphere platform, and growing community support, IBM is focused on delivering increasing value for WebSphere developers and our partners. We are delivering on all of these elements now and we are announcing further enhancements.

We will spend a bit more time later in the presentation on this exciting new technology. A special note must be made of WebSphere Studio Workbench. This is the first step in our roll-out of our next-generation application development environment. Workbench delivers the core technologies upon which we and our partners are building this next generation of development tools. You will continue to see releases of tools both from IBM and from our partners, based on Workbench, starting now and going into 2002 and beyond. Already, eleven other tools developers are currently developing offerings using the Workbench. This number will grow now that we are making a preview of the Workbench available via IBM's PartnerWorld site. It will further expand later this year when IBM contributes the Workbench to an open source project to be initiated by supporting tools vendors and IBM. Both Windows and Linux versions will be contributed.

These offerings provide an increasing level application development automation - through templates, wizards, rules driven code generation, and 4GL-based development. In addition to tools for developing entirely new applications, WebSphere provides tools for connecting to existing assets and extending them as Web services. Workbench partners include providers of offerings that compliment IBM's own. These partners are in various stages of development using the Workbench. The seamless integration enabled by the common Workbench services, means a single environment addressing all aspects of cross-business solution development. By cross-business we mean Intra-business - tying together and extending existing assets across your enterprise, and Inter-business - tying your business to your suppliers' and partners' businesses. Addressing the full development lifecyle starts with capturing and managing requirements, developing process models and capturing business rules, and moves through generating applications from models or rules or by direct programming, testing, deploying, and managing assets - including version control - through their productive life time. Throughout this process, reuse and consistency of assets across stages is essential -- as is support for both the traditional waterfall as well as iterative development models. Given the scope of the development process, and the ever-increasing need for productivity improvements, it is obvious that no single vendor can provide best-of-breed tools to address all aspects. In order to ensure WebSphere developers have the best tools in an integrated environment, we have developed the WebSphere Studio Workbench and a growing set of partnerships. Moreover, the process-management capabilities of many of these exchanges are extremely limited -- some are simply hiding old, manual trading processes behind Web screens. As a result, those companies spend more than they need to and realize a less-than-optimum return on their investment. But by using WebSphere Business Integrator, these companies would gain a single infrastructure that efficiently and economically manages all external and internal connections. Scenarios e-Banking Mortgages Investments Here are some situations that are perfectly suited for WebSphere User Experience. The first scenario involves a busy professional who is shopping on the Internet for a banking service. While once unique, Internet banking has been commoditized to some extent. However, our Internet bank has differentiated itself by providing a new service called Investment Analyzer. It uses the personalization technology of the offering to track account balances and suggest portfolio changes to the bank's users. Due to her hectic lifestyle, the professional finds this new service very appealing and signs up to be the bank's customer. By providing a better user experience, the bank has landed a new customer. Now that the bank has a new customer, there's a new problem: How does it keep the customer? The first answer is the bank needs to understand how the customer is or is not using its services. The offering's site analysis capabilities can provide information on customer behavior. Once the bank has this information, it can use it to develop better business rules for personalization, or drive the creation of new content via the content management system. The end result for the customer is that her Web experience is constantly improving and engaging her with personalized, high-quality content. Now the bank has a satisfied customer that doesn't think about switching. For our last scenario, our bank has a satisfied, but infrequent customer. The bank can't sell new services to satisfied customers who don't visit its site. The solution: improve the user's experience. With WebSphere User Experience portal technology, the bank can become the customer's sole source for financial needs, including news feeds on market conditions. Since the portal provides more services, the customer visits more frequently. Integration with IBM Content Manager allows the customer to access her bank statements and bills through dynamic retrieval directly from the line-of-business repository. Another way to reach infrequent customers is through WebSphere User Experience push technology that delivers time-critical information directly to the user's desktop. This will be provided in future editions of WebSphere User Experience. Internet user Bank Portal Bank Consumer Banking Differentiate yourself Continuous improvement Increase customer loyalty

50 WebSphere Everyplace Access
Challenges Demand for anytime, anywhere access to your e-business Desire to protect existing Web investments and infrastructures Complexity of dealing with new technology I don't have mobile access to the site I don’t have voice interaction To retain customers and attract new ones, your company must be easy to find and easily accessible. With the increasing popularity of pervasive computing, users expect anytime, anywhere access to information, as well as the Internet. By the end of 2002, the world will have more wireless subscribers capable of Internet access than it will wired users, according to a forecast by IDC. IDC also predicts that close to 1.3 billion people worldwide will have plugged in to Web-capable phones by 2004, compared to just 700 million people with ordinary Net connections. By 2003, it is predicted that 30% of the U.S. work force will use voice recognition on a daily basis. In addition, the demand for anytime, anywhere access is increasing due to the development and purchase of new devices and ways of interacting. To compete effectively, you need to expand your business beyond the PC, or customers will flock to competitors who offer wireless capabilities. Helping your mobile employees become more productive can help improve customer service since employees will have access to the information they need to respond to the customer. You also need to protect your existing Web infrastructure investment to avoid spending a fortune on a new one. Many companies don't have the resources or money to deal new technology, especially in terms of wireless markup language.

Scenarios Telephony gateway Banking Stocks Wireless network Mutual funds Here's a scenario for Everyplace Access. On Thursday morning, a customer connects to a bank from a home PC to check on their stock portfolio and related stock news. The customer has been tracking BCG stock closely to determine the right time to buy. While in meetings during the day, the customer uses the Web phone to frequently request stock quotes and related graphs from the bank regarding BCG and other stocks. On Friday, while driving to a vacation home, the customer uses the bank's voice recognition system to verbally request information about BCG's stock price. The bank's Text to Speech support indicates the stock has jumped five percent. The customer buys 1,000 shares and receives a purchase confirmation. The bank's Voice Server provides the speech recognition support to convert voice into VoiceXML. Transcoding Publisher transforms the VoiceXML input to HTML and when the transaction is completed, WTP transforms the HTML content back into VoiceXML. The Voice Server then transforms the text to speech to respond to the customer's request. The benefit is better customer service and customer retention by offering multi-channel access. 60 WebSphere Translation Offering

61 The statement of any time any place any device is missing in any language.
Lou's statement "in the near future we will have millions of people doing billions of transactions on thousands of devices" we can add to that in the language of their choice. We have technology now that will help them to achieve those statistics Over 30 percent of their web traffic comes from overseas and quite often those overseas visitors leave before they close any transactions because they're not comfortable in anything other than their native language. We know statistically that people are three times more likely to stay in a WEB site if it's written in the users natural language and they are twice as likely to buy! Also, think of the s people get from all over the world - in a foreign language that causes them to abandon their native language. With language transparency, they can see that in their language - converted on the fly. Think about customer support. Companies support products, not languages. So the Internet while a global medium does not create global community without some level of language transparency.

62 If we compare the emphasis put on translation for marketing collateral vs web content, we see a huge disparity. Most companies are used to the expense of professional translation for their static, printed content, while the majority of companies make no attempt to translate their dynamic web content, thereby shutting out an entire audience of potential customers that do not speak their language. Why? Professional translation is neither cheap, nor convenient. Professional translation averages around twenty cents per word, if you can find a qualified translator who understands your business jargon on a timely basis. Or how about trying to find eight translators, since you want to make your content available in 8 different languages. You can quickly see why most companies do not offer their web content in multiple languages. Yet, statistically, we know that web site visitors linger twice as long when they can browse in their native language, an business users are 3 times more likely to complete that transaction if they are addressed in their own language

63 Translation is not an afterthought, it is part of your enterprise.

66 Professional translation services can be costly and hard to find
Professional translation services can be costly and hard to find. The WebSphere Translation Server allows companies to provide dynamic translations of content. The WebSphere Translation offering combines licenses and services to help companies get up and running quickly and economically. Using real-time multilingual chat, companies can provide customer service and support with customers in their native language.

67 XYZ Corporation sells their products through a direct sales force as well as sales and support on the Web. They want to be able to sell their products overseas, and there is also a large demographic here in the United States that does not speak English that would be receptive to their market. Their Web site is in English only, and their support people are mostly English speakers only. The WebSphere Translation Offering allows XYZ to implement the WebSphere Voice Server, including services and languages in order to internationalize their content. The linguistic services included in the offering allow for the creation of user dictionaries specific to XYZ's content. IBM also analyzed XYZ's current communications to help them improve the translation quality. Deploying the WebSphere Translation Server on their Web site, they now offer their Web site content in 8 languages and they are starting to get s and calls from new markets. They are getting s in German from one customer, but they have no German speakers in the company. In the past, XYZ simply did not respond to these non-English s, but now that their Lotus Notes mail system is translation enabled, they can read the German s and respond in German as well (making sure to put a disclaimer on the that the English to German translation was done by a computer, not a human). XYZ's support lines are getting calls by Spanish speakers and there is no one in support that speaks Spanish. Again, using the WebSphere Translation Server, they have provided for real-time multilingual chat on their Web page, so now customer support can read and type in English, while the customer reads and types in Spanish. Not only has XYZ reached new audiences, they are selling more and keeping their customers happy by supporting them in their native language.
