Foot washing Baptists Foot Washing Baptists wash each other’s feet after baptizing and communions. Baptizing is done once, while communions are done over and over. Communions are services in which there are worships of the bread and wine.

Origins of the “Foot Washing”
Foot washing is something Jesus did for his Disciples (as in the Bible) during “The Last Supper”. This is an act of humility. It was very dirty in the Bible times, and everyone wore sandals so it was very necessary to wash your feet. People refused to wash the feet of their peers because it was the job of very lowly servants.

The Point Towards the Washing of Feet
Jesus was making the point that He came to serve, not to be served by others. “Monkey see monkey do.” STORY: After Jesus and his 12 disciples finished eating at “the last supper”. Jesus proceeded to wash each of their feet and wiped them dry with a towel. This symbolized his love and showed true “servant leadership”. Monkey see monkey do.

Perspectives on Pleasure
Pleasurable (or leisurable) things are all considered sins. Don’t associate well with others. See nearly all of society as sinners. Everything that doesn’t have something to do with abiding by the Bible and living according to God’s word is a sin. Women are considered the origin of sins. “Everyone is going to hell.” Foot-washing Baptists perceive all “pleasurable things” as sins, because of the way that they interpret and abide by the Bible. They live their lives tediously, and do not typically associate well with others; they see nearly all of society as sinners because they do not live their lives to the literal meaning of the Bible. Everyday hobbies and activities such as spending time outdoors, socializing, and even family outings are seen as unacceptable in the eyes of the Foot-washing Baptists. Even “baby-making” (as some may like to refer to it) and women are considered sins! (Because Eve screwed everything up.) These activities are said to take away time from reading the Bible, distract one from completing their mission of acting in the will of God and reaching salvation. This particular sect of Christianity secludes themselves from much of society, due to their unwillingness to completely convert and dedicate their lives according to the will of the Bible. They do not and will not partake in anything that will jeopardize them from reaching the kingdom of heaven, and tend to despise, discriminate and criticize anything that does. Foot-washing Baptists believe that most people are going to hell, which gives them only another reason for them to despise and mistreat the people around them.

What are First Baptists and Southern Baptists?
First (Primitive) Baptists: Foot-washing baptists Pleasure is a sin Evangelism Southern Baptists: Bible = main authority in shaping one’s life. Person fails to recognize God = eternity in hell Those who do recognize = heaven. Evangelism. First Baptists: First/Primitive Baptists are foot-washing baptists. They believe in washing the feet of their fellow Christians to “cleanse” them of their impurities and to help them in their Christian walk of life. They believe that anything pleasurable is a sin because they perceive the bible’s words literally. They also believe in Evangelism- the sharing of their faith to others. Southern Baptists: Southern baptists believe that the bible is the main authority in shaping one’s life. It is their belief that if a person fails to recognize the Lord as the one and only savior of our lives, that we are destined for eternal damnation in hell. Those who do recognize this are sentenced to live in paradise with the Lord in heaven. Like First Baptists, Southern Baptists also believe in Evangelism. VS.

Differences between Foot-Washing/First/Primitive Baptists and Southern Baptists?
Foot-Washing Baptists Southern Baptists Pleasure= No good Pleasure= Unanimous Bible Perception= Literal Bible Perception= Less Strict Foot-washing baptists don’t believe in pleasurable entertainment because it goes against the scriptures in their bible - unlike Southern Baptists where all they need to know is the difference between right and wrong and their lives won’t been in constant danger. Foot-washing baptists take the Bible literally and follow everything the book says to the T (why they wash feet), whereas Southern Baptist are not as harsh when they follow the Bible’s guidelines.
