4. Purpose of the required data
The questionnaire was intended to collect information and data on groundwater bodies layers from Member States in order to enable the EEA/ETC Water to prepare the first draft of a European GIS Reference Layer on Uppermost Groundwater Bodies for WISE in 2009

From 27 EU MS the 12 following countries responded:
BE, BG, CZ, DE, DK, FI, HU, NL, PL, PT, SE, SK (SI maybe later)

6. Next steps, planned result
s to all other countries in order to get permission to use offically reported data
Check of usability of reported data
Preparation of the draft Uppermost Groundwater body reference layer (shapefiles) with most important attributes (ID, RBD, country, horizon, area) – untill the end of 2009
