1 Board of Directors Meeting
Second Quarter 2014 Washington, DC

2 There is a program report in the posted board materials and I’m going to go over the highlights since the first quarter board meeting today. As you see, the publicity value of 2014 TRIP generated news coverage so far is more than $4 million. We won’t be showing video today, but we have shared the links to print and broadcast coverage with you as we’ve released reports throughout the year, and if you click on the program report in the board materials posting, there are links to every report and the news coverage generated by its release. There is also always an updated program report in the director section of our website. You can also click on the YouTube icon on the top of the letterhead – or on our website – to view numerous video news broadcasts for the reports we’ve released over the past several years. (next slide has full map of 2014 )

3 Nine state reports released at 17 news conferences
National release on the impact of Trust Fund insolvency

4 News coverage includes more than 90 local television and radio news broadcasts and 100 daily newspapers and Internet news sites National issue coverage includes FOX Business, CNBC, Bloomberg and Associated Press And over the past week, CNN Money and Moneynews

5 Friday - June 6, 2014 Monday - June 9, 2014
When the GPS navigation company TomTom released its list of traffic congested cities last week, CNNMoney contacted AASHTO for comment. AASHTO directed CNN to TRIP and Rocky supplied data and comments relating to vehicle operating costs and the correlation of the state of the economy to congestion. After the CNNMoney piece ran last Friday, Moneynews did further research, based on our national release from earlier this year that focused on the ramifications of the harsh winter damage to roads in light of federal funding cuts. Moneynews ran a piece on this Monday that quoted TRIP as: “America’s already deteriorated road conditions are only going to get worse if greater funding is not made available at the local, state and federal levels.”

6 We have Alabama and Oklahoma slated for release June 24 and June 26 and Arkansas and Louisiana completed and ready to go – most likely over the summer.

7 We have about 15 reports in various stages of production
We also have a national Rural roads report that we expect to release around the Fourth of July. We plan to tailor customized released in the states making the top 20 lists for rural conditions and safety. When we last released our national rural roads report in 2011 we worked with 26 states on customized releases and the news coverage was extensive. (next slide shows 2011 coverage)

8 2011Rural Roads Print and Internet Coverage
National Rural Roads Report More than 25 national and state industry associations across the country partnered with TRIP in the successful release of TRIP’s Rural Roads report on September 1, 2011 to emphasize the potentially devastating effects of delaying federal reauthorization. Brad Sant of ARTBA, Steve Sandherr of AGC of America, and John Horsley of AASHTO joined Rocky Moretti in a media news conference call to discuss the findings of TRIP’s report and to call for reauthorization before the legislation expired September 30., In addition to the report’s national release, TRIP worked with contractor chapters and state industry coalitions to customized news releases in twenty six states The news coverage was extensive and positive – this is a listing of just the print and Internet news coverage – the report also was covered on more than 40 television news broadcasts throughout the country. This year, we plan to partner with AEM and the farm bureau for a release around Independence Day.

9 This map shows where we’ve released, where we have active programs and where we have proposals. And the white states are where there is no current activity. We could conceivable release about 30 reports this year, if the state politics and our state partners allow.
