2 LESSON 677:REMNANTS OF BENJAMIN RE-ESTABLISHED
MEMORY VERSE: “And the children of Israel repented them for Benjamin their brother, and said, There is one tribe cut off from Israel this day” (Judges 21:6) TEXT: Judges 21:1-25

3 SUMMARY (1) From our last study, we learnt the following lessons:
Personal evangelism is the person-to-person sharing of the good news of salvation with a sinner, with the goal of leading souls to the Saviour Jesus Christ. The end of a soul without Christ makes it a necessity to reach out before it is too late. A soul-winner must be born again and an live exemplary life. Evangelism methods include direct/indirect, friendship, literature, after-fellowship, etc. A converted soul must be followed up to establish him in the faith. The study of today touches on three points: Mourning for the remnant of Benjamin. Measures for the restoration of Benjamin. Moral rot of backsliders.

4 SUMMARY (2) Mourning for the remnant of Benjamin (Judges 21:1-7,15):
Israel mourned because the tribe of Benjamin was becoming extinct after the civil war. We must arise to bear the burden when a member of the body of Christ suffers. Measures for the restoration of Benjamin (Judges 21:8-24): Israel had been too severe on Benjamin. Realising their error, they sought for a way out. Israel united and ensured that Benjamin was restored to favour and to their inheritance. Moral rot of backsliders (Judges 21:25): Lack of godly leadership led to lawlessness and corruption in Israel, God’s own nation. The Lord abhors believers who turn away from God’s righteous ways to folly.

5 DISCUSSION

9 QUESTION 4 How can people avoid putting their lives on autopilot and doing whatever they liked? 1 Peter 1:14-16 Isaiah 55:7 Jerimiah 3:22 James 4:7,8

10 CONCLUSION We must bear the burden by helping when a member of the body of Christ suffers. We should be careful not to be rash or over-react even when evil is being punished. It is our duty to take challenges to God in prayer until heaven intervenes. Holiness remains the only remedy to escape the corruption in the world. Christ is King over the whole earth; those who will escape His judgement must recognise His kingship and lordship and demonstrate absolute loyalty to Him.
