3 What is a Title I School? Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C et seq.) is amended to read as follows: TITLE I — IMPROVING THE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT OF THE DISADVANTAGED The purpose of Title I under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. A Title I school has qualified to receive federal funding under this act.

Riverside Intermediate is a School-wide Title I School. In a school-wide school, all students benefit from Title I resources.

At Riverside Intermediate Title I funds are used: • To obtain a high-quality education for all of our students by highly qualified faculty and staff. •Development and Annual Revision of Our Parent Policy •Development and Annual Revision of Our Parent/Student/Teacher compact •Development and Annual Revision of the Schoolwide Plan •Parental Notification Requirements

8 Riverside Intermediate’s School-wide Program and Goals
•Increase student writing proficiency by 8% as measured by Milestones scores and local school assessments during the school year.   •Increase student math proficiency by 8% as measured by Milestones scores and local school assessments during the school year.  • Increase student math proficiency by 8% as measured by Milestones scores and local school assessments during the school year. •Parent involvement will increase by the number of opportunities available to parents and the number of parents attending the events.

•Common Core Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS) –Math •Small group math instruction based on units of study common formative assessments –ELA /Reading Small group literacy based on student performance Science and Social Studies •GPS – Georgia Performance Standards

•State Assessments –ACCESS for English Language Learners --Georgia Milestones Test (formerly CRCT) •Local Assessments --DRA—Developmental Reading Inventory --SRI—Scholastic Reading Inventory --SMI—Scholastic Math Inventory --GLOSS—Global Strategy Stage --Common formative and summative assessments in all core subjects ·National Assessments – 3rd and 5th CogAT and IOWA

•Notification of Highly Qualified Teacher Status (Parents right to know) •Notification of School Status •1% of System Allocation must be reserved for Parent Involvement

Yes, all Riverside Intermediate regular education teachers are highly qualified. Most teachers have ESOL endorsement
