2 to reconcile that area of our life to God.
Last week, we discussed finances and steps we can take to reconcile that area of our life to God.

3 Connecting to the topic of money, today…we will look at work.
Our jobs… Our vocation… “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” - Steve Jobs

4 Genesis 2:15 (Before “The Fall”)
“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” Genesis 3: 17-19 After “The Fall”… God tells Adam of the curse that will fall upon mankind’s work: it will be hard & not always enjoyable.

5 Mankind’s relationship with work has been deeply flawed.
Ever since The Fall… Mankind’s relationship with work has been deeply flawed. Some turn their jobs into their idols. Others treat work like a horrible burden. It takes great mindfulness and blessing to live in the “sweet spot” with our work.

6 Ecclesiastes 5: 18-19 18  “This is what I have observed to be good: that it is appropriate for a person to eat, to drink and to find satisfaction in their toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given them—for this is their lot. 19 Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God.”

7 before you invested those eight to ten hours.”
“When the main hours of your day are spent in a healthy environment, doing worthwhile tasks that fit your gifts, talents, and skills… Your energy level stays high, your emotional reserves stay filled and you are a little more confident and joyful about what you contribute to the world than you were before you invested those eight to ten hours.” - Bill Hybels

8 Four Workplace “Alignments”
1.) Passion - Loving (most of) what you do 2.) Culture - Environment or “vibe” at work 3.) Challenge - Underchallenged Appropriately Challenged Dangerously Overchallenged Appropriately Challenged +

9 Four Workplace “Alignments”
4.) Compensation (Luke 10:7 & 1 Tim. 5:8) - High Pay & High Passion Balance (Rare) - Low Pay, but High Passion (Supplement your Income) - High Pay, but Low Passion (Supplement your Passion)

10 23 Whatever you do, work at it with
Colossians 3: 23-24 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

11 What internal obstacles (fear, doubts, insecurities, etc.)
or external obstacles (lack of job opportunities, cutbacks, etc.) keep you from pursuing greater alignment in all four areas of work life? *Passion *Culture *Challenge *Compensation
