Shared Vision, Mission and Strategic Plan Rationale: If we create an inspiring and shared vision and aligned strategic plan, then all members of our community will be eager to align their collective and individual efforts to accomplishing our shared goals. Strategies: Collaboratively develop and communicate a shared vision and mission that has high expectations for children and clearly communicates what Naugatuck Public Schools is striving to become Develop a Strategic Plan that will ensure the entire system is working toward accomplishing the vision and mission

Create a rigorous Academic Program with a focus on Continuous Improvement of Teaching and Learning Rationale: If we create a professional culture in our district that values and structures learning and collaboration at all levels of the system; and sets high standards for teaching and learning; and strengthens the capacity of educators to meet the needs of students, then our students will continue to meet or exceed our high expectations. Strategies: Create a professional culture relentlessly focused on improving teaching and learning Develop, implement and systematically evaluate and improve curriculum, assessment, instructional and intervention expectations Develop and evaluate the capacity of leaders, teachers and staff to improve district, school and student performance indicators

11 Content Curriculum maps with unit essential questions, content, and common assessments aligned to Common Core State Standards School wide cross-curricular focus on authentic core elements of literacy - listening, speaking, reading, and writing Weekly collaboration and guidance with Department Heads (World Language, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Math) Academic intervention programs aligned with student needs

17 Student Stakeholder Goal - Our goal for this year is to have 70% of students responding “very true” or “true” to statement #12, “My teachers return tests and quizzes quickly with written feedback on how I can do better.” Historical #s Spring 2013 = 40% Spring 2014 = 60% Parent Stakeholder Goal – Our goal for this year will be to have 80% of parent respondents answering “very true” or “true” to statement #3 from the parent survey, “My child is challenged in school.” Historical #s Spring 2013 = 60% Spring 2014 = 76%
