“Investigating the Mysteries of Cosmic Rays with Direct Measurements from Balloon and Space Experiments” Presented by Nicolas Picot-Clemente, University of Maryland
Discovered more than a century ago, cosmic-ray origin, mechanism of acceleration, and propagation in the Galaxy are still yet to be understood. Balloon borne and space experiments have been used for years to directly measure and study these particles. This talk will mainly focus on the BESS, CREAM and AMS missions, and will discuss their latest results and possible implications on our understanding on cosmic-ray source and propagation in the Galaxy. To conclude, the ISS-CREAM experiment planned to be launched by SpaceX-12 in 2017 will be presented.
