1 Warm Up 11/27 Answer these questions as they pertain to all five senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste): Remember that everything that happens in a book/play is intentional. In your opinion, what effect is the playwright going for by beginning his/her play at night? What about including a ghost in the very beginning? What effect does that provide?

2 Learning Targets I can identify the established mood of Act I, scene i. I can utilize the format of the Shakespearean tragedy to predict what will happen in the first act of the play. I can use a summary of my assigned scene to help me translate the scene for the rest of my class. I can respond to comprehension questions for Act I.

Find and read a summary of your assigned scene, and then Translate the text, part by part. Identify 5-10 lines (or even partial lines) that you feel are most important to the PLOT of your assigned scene. You can work with groups of 3-4 to do this. You have the rest of the class period.
