The /w/ sound requires a lot of wind. Blow it into your open-palmed, cupped hands as if you are a cloud blowing out wind. WWWWW. Move your head down the mountain, up the mountain, down the mountain, up the mountain– in the shape of the W.

X is the kissing letter because it almost sounds like the word kiss when you say its sound. Cross your index fingers in the shape of an x, chopping them together as you say /ks/ ks/ks/ks/ks. I tell the kids, one finger is the girl, the other is the boy. Boy meets girl, ks/ks/ks

Yo– make your pretend yo-yo go up and down as you say “eeeeeeeee uh.” Hold your fingers in the shape of the v, and then make it go down slanted like the string of a yo-yo.

Pretend to do your zipper up from your waist to your chin. Hear the sound it makes—zzzzzzzzzz.
