1 The MHO Program : History Program (MHO) is a Netherlands project of co- financing for co-operation in favour of the University of Ouagadougou. It aims at reinforcing the institutional capacities of Higher education. It is in 1994 that the University of Ouagadougou was selected as partner institution of Program MHO. The indicative foreground was worked out over the period 1995-1998. Whereas the second plan was to be spread out from 2000 till 2003.

3 Professionalization of Fields : Impact on the Internationalization of the UO Development of curricula -Taking into account the needs of the employment world in the elaboration of programs through markets research; -Implementation of training programs in collaboration with professinals and potential employers through training courses and boards of trustees; -Compulsory training courses in professional milieu for the graduates; -Active parnership with the Institutions of the North : univsersities of the Netherlands (RUG), Belgium, Great Britain, and of the South (Cameroon, Ghana…).

4 Professionalization of the Fields: The Impact on the Internationalization of the UO Ongoing training of the formators as to insure academic relief -Granting of scholarships to students in 3rd level; -Adequate Equipments for research; -Ongoing training courses given;

5 Professionalization of the Fileds: The Impact on the Internationalization of the UO Appropriate pedagogy -Less motivated students; -Improvement in professional counseling of students; -Syllabuses are available to students; -Improvement in academic results;

6 Professionalization of Fields : The Impact on the Internationalization of the UO Acquisition of equipments and infrastructures -a building sheltering a studio school, two computer rooms, a language room, a press room, classrooms, offices); -data-processing equipment and of reproduction; -Two specialized libraries; -Audio-visual equipment for CLUO; -A telephone line.

7 Professionalization of Fields : The Impact on the Internationalization of the UO Establishment of two centres of expertise : CERAM and CLUO These centres of expertise prendre la relève in order to capitalize on the assets of the project and to reinforce its durability.

9 University Management Phase : The Impact on the Management and International Relations of the UO Reinforcement of university cooperation -Publication and and translation of the document for the policy of cooperation; -Finalization of the annual report on external interventions; -Publication of the strategic planning of the University of Ouagadougou, version 2005 to 2009; -North-South mobility for the M.U project; -Annual meeting on the evaluation of the cooperation; -Round Table of the partners of the UO.

10 University Management Phase: The impact on Management the International Relations of the UO Reinforcing university cooperation (contd) -Orienting and organizing the policy of the univsersity as regards international cooperation; -Knowing the status of the cooperation and its contribution to the university of Ouagadougou; -Better preparation of projects to be submitted to the donors; -Better cooperation with english speaking countries and organisms.

11 University Management Phase : The Impact on the management of the International Relations of the UO Reinforcement of the institutional capacity of the university of Ouagadougou -Reorganization of the UO with three vice-presidents, during its re-establishment in 2000; -Optimization of organisational communication; -Improvement of the input of administrative staff and professors.

12 University Management Phase : The Impact on the Management International Relations of the UO Modernization and rationalization of administrative, financial and material management -Quick transmission of mails to the universities of Bobo and ENSK; -Publication of the newspaper « Campus Echo »; -Publication of Student Guide.

13 University Management Phase : The Impact on the Management of nternational Relations of the UO Increase in human resources -Ongoing training for administrative and teaching personnel; -The major part of the personnel has received training in computer, archiving, English language etc.; -Sessions of ongoing training and scholarships to 3rd Level/ Ph.D. students have been granted.

14 University Management Phase : The Impact on the Management International Relations of the UO Increase in the financial autonomy of the University of Ouagadougou Lack of performances in economic units of the university : bookshop, newspaper, ACM, Guests house.

15 MHO Program : Financial and Administrative Difficulties -Adaptation of programs and profiles to employment market; -Promotion and visibility of fields; -Implementation of gender policy; -Promotion of the section of translation /interpretation field engaging national languages; -Organization of the training courses in professional environment, practical lesson in radio operator and television studio, linguistic bath in english speaking country, etc. -To extend the professionalization to the rest of the UFR and to the entire UO (LATA); -Maintenance and renewal of infrastructures and equipments; -Motivation / remuneration of professionals and temporary employee; -Ongoing training for professors; -Complexe and sensitive economic and union context.

16 MHO Program : General Conclusion The impact of Program MHO on the works of the University of Ouagadougou is real on the level of the administration, teachers, students as well as with regard to the reinforcement of new technologies of information and communication.

17 Perspectives of MHO Program : To continue the financing of major activities capable of making the program a lasting one.
