5 OECD indicators on e-government performance
Data on the cost of developing e‑government are needed to appraise governments’ performance Would like to start with data collection on total expenditures on ICT (capital, compensation, intermediate consumption ) in central government Complexity of gathering this type of data: public accounts and ICT expenditures are organised differently in the various OECD countries - GOV is working on the development of OECD indicators on e-government performance - knowing the cost of developing e‑government is essential to be able to appraise governments’ performance in using it to achieve different goals - Spending in ICT physical and human capital in the public sector represents a good proxy of the public administration’s financial efforts to develop e‑government to produce a certain output i.e. e‑government services to business and citizens. - need to collect data on the total expenditures on ICT infrastructure and human capital as percentage of the total central government expenditures - The complexity of gathering this type of data comes from the fact that public accounts and ICT expenditures are organised differently in the various OECD countries - We need the cooperation of SNAs
