32. What you need to remember when choosing your subjects
Keep your career ideas open – you may have some ideas
but these may change
Do take subjects that you enjoy
Do take subjects you are good at
Do remember to take at least 2 sciences if you are
interested in a scientific or medical career
Don’t think some subjects are just for girls or boys
Don’t be influenced by your friends’ choices
Don’t take it because it is with your favourite teacher – you
may not have that teacher another year!
Don’t take subjects that you find difficult – they will likely
become harder in S4

Conclusion it is important to research areas of interest, talk to people and keep up to date as the world of work is continually changing.
Remind them of their jigsaw worksheet with which they have started to piece together their own jigsaw and have begun to use CMS to help them. Their jigsaw is their action plan to help them move forward. They now need to start to research how they will achieve their goal - encourage pupils to use My World of Work (if now registered)
