3 TASK RI.CS.4 Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative, connotative, and technical meanings; analyze the impact of a specific word choice on meaning and tone, including analogies and allusions to other texts. First, go back and re-read each section. Highlight narrative sections yellow and label them with an “N.” Highlight research (informational) sections blue and label them with an “R.” Next, discuss your markings with a partner.

9 TASK RI.CS.4 Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative, connotative, and technical meanings; analyze the impact of a specific word choice on meaning and tone, including analogies and allusions to other texts.
