3 25 children: 7 boys, 18 girls Teaching assistant: Mrs Jo Lydon Teachers: Mrs Warsap ( on Tuesdays-Mrs Hannaford for Art/DT, Mrs Miles for PSHE, on Friday morning Mr Segrave for PE.)

4 English Linked to topic
Talk for Writing –follows three stages: learning a text includes drama activities, modelled writing then independent writing Guided reading, independent reading, vocabulary and comprehension activities 15/20 minute sessions everyday: Guided reading, handwriting or spelling, punctuation and grammar sessions Mixed and ability groupings Catch up sessions

5 Reading Children begin the AR System. They do a Star Test and are given a range of levels within which they can choose a book. Once they have read the book, they do a quiz on the computer. Parents can access the results. 3 100 % and the child can move up a level. Less than 85 % of questions right and they have to redo the quiz. I can set points targets and book level targets each half term. Parents please support by listening to your child read and ask questions about the story. Reading to your child is also important as they need to hear good models of fluent, expressive reading.

6 Maths Every day Consists of teacher input, practical activities, group work, independent work, teacher or TA assisted work. Mental Arithmetic 10-15 minute session every day -3x,6x,4x and 8x tables Mixed and ability groupings. Catch up sessions

8 Home learning Reading Children should take their reading books home every night. Spellings Spellings set every Wednesday to be checked the following Monday. Linked to pattern or rule covered in class that week. Look, Cover, Write, Check Mathletics- 3 tasks based on what we have covered in class Home learning project Linked to our half termly topic.

9 Trips, Visits and Events
Swimming Monday 18th September Harry Potter World Wednesday 4th October Website and newsletter for new events and updates

10 P.E. PE is on Friday, Swimming on Mondays until half term
Shorts and t-shirts for indoor Warm kit and trainers required for outdoor games Long hair tied back, earrings to be removed or covered with tape Note required if child is not able to do PE

11 Rewards House points: Potter, Hagrid, McGonnagal, Weasley Star Award
5 Star Book Whole class reward: pebble jar Sanctions: Minutes off playtime

12 Communication A member of staff is on the playground every morning (8.45 – 8.55am) can pass on messages to me Messages can also be passed to breakfast club who can pass on messages. 5 day policy - often easier/quicker to share messages with staff member in the morning. 13 How can you help? Everything should be named
Please ensure your child has a water bottle for use throughout the day in the classroom. Support with home learning Keep an eye on channels of communication, especially parentmail and newsletters Please do communicate any concerns or worries so we can act on them Volunteers needed for swimming/ trip.
