2. Alcoholic group of glycosides
Such as: Salicin which obtained from Salix bark, Willow bark.
Salicin hydrolyzed by:
1.Enzyme emolsin
2.Acid like HCl,HNO3
3.Alkaline solutions like NaOH
Salicin is an alcoholic β-glucoside. Salicin is an anti-inflammatory agent that is produced from willow bark.

3. Willow bark Willow family - a number of different species
Commonly known species –
White willow/European willow (Salix alba)
Black willow/pussy willow (Salix nigra)
Crack willow (Salix fragilis)
Purple willow (Salix purpurea)
Weeping willow (Salix babylonica)
Plant Family: Salicaceae
Habitat - native to Europe, Asia, and some parts of North America.

5. Medicinal Uses and Indications
Headache
Low back pain
Osteoarthritis - Chronic breakdown of cartilage in the joints; the most common form of arthritis occurring usually after middle age

Fever - A rise in the temperature of the body; frequently a symptom of infection.
Flu - An acute febrile highly contagious viral disease.
Tendonitis - Inflammation of a tendon.
Bursitis - Inflammation of a bursa (A small fluid-filled sac located between movable parts of the body especially at joints); frequently in the shoulder

Vanilla planifolia / Vanilla fragrans is a species of vanilla orchid.
Family: Orchidaceae
It is native to Mexico
Vanilla planifolia is found in Central America and the West Indies. It prefers hot, wet, tropical climates. It is harvested mostly in Mexico and Madagascar.

West Indian Vanilla / Pompona Vanilla - V. pompona

9. Uses to make flavoring to treat intestinal gas and fever
increase sexual desire (as an aphrodisiac)

added to food to help stop tooth decay
In manufacturing, vanilla is used as a flavoring in syrups used in making medications.
It is also used as a fragrance in perfumes.
