1 (M7) Unit-8: 2D-Figures Days 94 - 105
Common Core Standards 7.G.1 : Solve problems involving scale drawing of geometric figures, including computing actual lengths and areas from a scale drawing and reproducing a scale drawing at a different scale. 7.G.2: Draw (freehand, with ruler and protractor, and with technology) geometric shapes with given conditions. Focus on constructing triangles from three measures of angles or sides, noticing when the conditions determine a unique triangle, more than one triangle, or no triangle. 7.G.4: Know the formulas for the area and circumference of a circle and use them to solve problems; give an informal derivation of the relationship between the circumference and area of a circle. 7.G.6: Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving area, volume and surface area of two- and three-dimensional objects composed of triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, cubes, and right prisms

2 (M7) Unit-8: 2D-Figures Day 94: Polygons
Learning Objective(s) Find Perimeter and Area of 2D-Shapes like Regular Polygons and any missing dimension (Parallelogram, Squares, Rectangles, Triangles, Rhombus, Trapezoid )Copy vocabulary into your notebook.

3 (M7) Unit-8: 2D-Figures Day 94: Polygons
CW/HW Primary - Description Supplemental - Description Perimeter and Area Review power point Holt Lesson 8-4 and 8-5 …CW/HW  Reteach -  Guided Practice: Missing Dimensions WS of Day-97 After each shape/slide, give students two more of the same shape with measurements on the whiteboard and ask them to find the area and perimeter. Repeat with each slide. The purpose of this is to reinforce what you are going over in the ppt. This will help you determine if you need to spend more time on any of the figures.

4 (M7) Unit-8: 2D-Figures Day 94: Polygons
Exit-Ticket A rectangular playground has an area of 7125 square yards. The width of the playground is 75 yards. What is the length of the playground? A. 65 yards B. 75 yards C. 85 yards D. 95 yards The correct answer is D. Taken from Buckle Down to the Common Core State Standards Mathematics Grade 7

5 (M7) Unit-8: 2D-Figures Day 95-96 : Circles
Learning Objective(s) Find Perimeter and Area of 2D-Shapes - Circles and any missing dimension given the perimeter/area.

6 (M7) Unit-8: 2D-Figures Day 95-96 : Circles
CW/HW Primary - Description Supplemental - Description Identify Parts of a Circle – Paper-Plate Activity; (Also, What’s in a Circle Handout of D96) Exploring Circles – Group Activity Handout (Discover Pi - Relationship between Circumference and Diameter ) Informally, derive Area formula from Circumference by relating to Parallelogram shape of Triangle-Wedges of the circle. Guided /Independent Practice:: Circles Practice Problems (2 handouts – d95, d96) HW: Holt Course 2 Lesson 8-3 and Lesson 8-6 3) The illustration shows the relationship between the circumference and area. If a circle is cut into wedges and laid out as shown, a parallelogram results. Half of an end wedge can be moved to the other end a rectangle results. The height of the rectangle is the same as the radius of the circle. The base length is the circumference (2∏r). The area of the rectangle (and therefore the circle) is found by the following calculations: Arect = Base x Height Area = ½ (2∏r) x r Area = ∏r x r Area = ∏r2

7 (M7) Unit-8: 2D-Figures Day 95-96: Circles
Exit-Ticket 1) A round clock has a radius of 5 cm. What is the approximate area of the clock? Use 3.14 for ∏. A cm2 B cm2 C. 314 cm2 D. 785 cm2 2) A wheel has a diameter of 28 inches. What is the approximate distance around the outside of the wheel? Use 22/7 for ∏. A. 44 in. B. 88 in. C. 176 in. D. 616 in. 1) The correct answer is B. Taken from Buckle Down to the Common Core State Standards Mathematics Grade 7 2) The correct answer is B.

Learning Objective(s) Show mastery of Perimeter/Area Concepts and skills in problem-solving for Polygons and Circles by taking a Quiz. Warm-Up Review: 1) A square has a perimeter of 60 inches. What is the area of the square? A square inches B square inches C square inches D square inches Before/After-Quiz: Guided Practice: Missing Dimensions WS of Day-97 The correct answer is A. Need to create assessment Quiz#1

9 (M7) Unit-8: 2D-Figures Day 98-99 : Changing Dimensions
Learning Objective(s) Find the new area/perimeter of Polygons (Squares, Rectangles only) when any dimension(s) is changed and look for a pattern/relationship between change in dimensions and change in area/perimeter Warm-Up: Copy Vocab Similar Figures Figures whose corresponding sides are proportional and corresponding angles are congruent Proportions An equality of two ratios Scale Factor The ratio used to enlarge or reduce similar figures. The scale factor comes from simplifying the ratio between two corresponding parts Scale The ratio between two sets of measurements. Scales can use the same units or different units The correct answer is A. Need to create assessment Quiz#1

10 (M7) Unit-8: 2D-Figures March 25 - Changing Dimensions
CW/HW Primary - Description Supplemental - Description Holt 9-5 Changing Dimensions Day 2 Notes HW Day 98: Changing Dimensions Day 1 Homework (See Note below) More Word-Problems Practice: Changing Dimensions Review from Day-104 If you choose to use this, it was pulled from Math 8. It is in a .pdf so it cannot be modified, therefore you may want to mark out the Math 8 title if you make copies.
