26 Why does British Columbia have special economic and cultural ties to the Pacific Rim(ring of fire) countries? British Columbia’s diverse people have Asian Ancestors. Trade is done with the Asian countries of the Pacific Rim so BC wants a good relationship with them. It is easier for BC to trade with Pacific Rim countries because it is separated from the rest of Canada by the Rocky Mountains.

The Cold War was a period of great tension between the United States and the Soviet Union which lasted for more than 40 years after World War II. The US was worried about the Soviet expansion of Communism throughout the World.

It allows goods to be shipped between the two countries.
