1 For Misunderstanding The Bible (part 1)
Ten Rules For Misunderstanding The Bible (part 1) In this lesson we will look at four.

2 #10 “Tell yourself that you cannot understand the Bible and that it is impossible for everyone to understand it alike.”

3 “Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment” (1 Cor. 1:10) Where confusion exists… 2 Corinthians 12:20, 21 | James 3:16-18 Tumults and confusion are the same word. Contrast the harmony of Paul and Titus with the Corinthians (2 cor. 12: 18, 19). Why were they able to walk together, but Corinth was filled with commotion and confusion? You show me a divided a church where eruptions flare and I will show you a church where envy and self-seeking are there.

4 “For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints” (1 Cor. 14:33) “O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us shame of face, as it is this day…” (Dan. 9:7) “…because we have sinned against You” (Dan. 9:8)

5 God’s Will God has revealed His will to the apostles (Eph. 3:3)
The apostles wrote His will down (Eph. 3:3) What they wrote down is readable and understandable (Eph. 3:4, 5) We are commanded to understand it (Eph. 5:17) Whose fault is it, when a man does not understand it?

6 Not Only Know, But TEACH! 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Compare those who were persecuted went everywhere preaching (Acts 8:4). Hebrews 5

7 “Bring a carnal mindset to the Scriptures.”
#9 “Bring a carnal mindset to the Scriptures.”

8 God’s Old Testament People
Attracted by worldly religions around them (Jud. 3:4-7) A test to God’s people EVIL: 1FORGOT THE LORD ⇢ 2SERVED OTHER GODS Baal, sun-god Ashtoreth, moon-goddess The worship associated with these deities often included immoral and licentious behavior with prostitution, fortune telling and even the burning of their children (see Baal of Peor, regions had their Baal god, Num. 25:1-3ff; 2 Chron. 28:1-4; Jer. 19:3-5, let us appreciate that this speaks of innocent—children are viewed as innocent before God; Matt. 18:1-4).

9 God’s Old Testament People
Attracted by worldly religions around them (Jud. 3:4-7) Self-willed “built for themselves” (1 Kin. 14:23) Provocative (Isa. 57:5) Defended practices if they received good things physically Jeremiah 44:15-19 1 Kings 14: 22 Now Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked Him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, more than all that their fathers had done. 23 For they also built for themselves high places, sacred pillars, and wooden images on every high hill and under every green tree. “Inflaming yourselves with gods under every green tree, Slaying the children in the valleys, Under the clefts of the rocks?” (Isa. 57:5).

10 Baal Worship Today? Any religion that refuses the Lordship of Jesus
“Church Without Religion” James 1:21-27; Matt. 7:21; Luke 6:46 “Christianity, Not Churchianity” Acts 20:28; Ephesians 5:23, 24

11 Baal Worship Today? Any religion that is given to the carnal appetite of man (Rom. 8:5-7) Promotes a health and wealth gospel 1 Timothy 6:6-10 Promotes entertainment-based worship Exod. 32:6; Jud. 16:25; Amos 6:5 Promotes or tolerates immorality Revelation 2:20 1 Timothy 4:12; 2 Corinthians 6:15-7:1 Ex 32:6 Then they rose early on the next day, offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. Jud 16:25 So it happened, when their hearts were merry, that they said, "Call for Samson, that he may perform for us." So they called for Samson from the prison, and he performed for them. And they stationed him between the pillars. Am 6:5 Who sing idly to the sound of stringed instruments, And invent for yourselves musical instruments like David;
