EDDU 9367 – Creative and Critical Thinking, Design, and Making The Pittsburgh FAB Institute provides opportunities for learning and tinkering with innovative teaching practices, the maker culture, and design thinking. In this course participants will use innovative practices as they use the maker culture processes of researching, tinkering, designing, analyzing, inquiring, sketching, and reflecting. Participants will also explore design thinking and design challenges.   EDDU 9811: Effective Instructional Strategies in MAKER Programs The Pittsburgh FAB Institute provides opportunities for understanding and using innovative teaching practices. In this course participants will learn and understand in a hands-on, collaborative learning environment how to successfully implement innovative teaching practices that focus on creativity, inquiry, innovation and making. EDDU 9365 – Connecting Instruction and the Learner in Your MAKER Program The Pittsburgh FAB Institute provides opportunities to understand innovative teaching practices, the maker culture, design thinking and digital learning.  In this course participants will learn and understand how to improve, or develop, MAKER programs in a hands-on environment. Field visitations and interviews are encouraged. EDDU 9364 – Improving Curriculum and Instruction in your MAKER Program The Pittsburgh FAB Institute provides opportunities to understand and tinker with innovative teaching practices, the maker culture, design thinking, and digital learning. In this course students will research MAKER programs in depth, including field visitations and interviews, and apply what you learn to create or improve your MAKER program. EDDU 9363 – Teaching for a Whole New Mind:  21st Century Learning  (Book study) The conceptual age requires 21st century skills that will be the focus of this graduate class.  We will look at A Whole New Mind … Right Brainers Will Rule, by Daniel Pink and work together on ways to integrate his ideas into our teaching.    EDDU 9381 – Motivating and Engaging Your Students (Book study) Mindset, Autonomy, Mastery, Choice, and Purpose, five key factors to intrinsic motivation and student engagement. Students will reflect and design a plan to put appropriate strategies into action.
