2 1. Adolf Hitler - The leader of the Nazi party that led Germany in WWII.

3 2. Allied Powers - United States, Britain, France, USSR

4 3. Atomic Bomb - a bomb whose potency is derived from nuclear fission of atoms of fissionable material with the consequent conversion of part of their mass into energy.

5 4. Axis Powers - Germany, Italy, Japan

6 5. Blitzkrieg - “lightening war” a military tactic used to disorganize an enemy military and limit human loss and ammunition use.

7 6. Genocide -the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group.

8 7. Hiroshima - A major military headquarters for Japan in WWII that was the first to be hit by a US atomic bomb.

9 8. Holocaust - any mass slaughter or reckless destruction of life.

10 9. Invasion - Entering enemy territory with large military force

11 10. NATO - North Atlantic Treaty Organization, focused on defense of all members

12 11. Nazi Party - Political party in control of Germany during WWI that was responsible for the Holocaust.

13 12. Occupation - When one country has taken control of another country and is keeping control by military force.

14 13. Pearl Harbor - First port attacked by Japan that initiated Us involvement in WWII. “A day that will live in infamy” - FDR

15 14. Reich - The German empire during WWII.

16 15. United Nations -an international organization, formed to promote international peace, security, and cooperation amongst nations.
