2. What are habits?
Definition: A repetitive act performed by a particular individual
Explanation: An action that a person does almost every day over and over again. Most of the time, habits are hard to break when it becomes a daily routine
Example: Brushing teeth in the morning

3. What are taboos?
Definition: A restriction on behavior imposed by social custom
Explanation: A behavior a region or culture does that might not be seen as “normal” to other people
Example: Cannibalism is not something most humans would ever think to do, but it is still practiced in the Korowai Tribe

4. What is a custom?
Definition: The frequent repetition of an act, to the extent that it becomes a characteristic of the group of people performing the acts
Explanation: An action that is performed almost every day by a group of people who adopt that action into their every day lives
Example: People who eat with their hands

Music: Composed anonymously & transmitted orally
Possibility of modification from generation to the next
Tells a story or conveys information about daily activities
Hearth: Economically developed countries such as ones in North America, Western Europe, & Japan
Music: Written by specific individuals for the purpose of being sold to a mass of people
Originated around 1900s

-Soccer: Origin is obscure, but England is said to be origin
Sports: Contemporary diffusion of sports shows popular culture
-Soccer: In 1800s, started to become popular

7. What is a franchise?
Definition: The right/license granted by a company to an individual/group of market its products or services in a specific territory
Explanation: A company that allows or gives permission to a person or group of people to market their business in a certain area
Example: McDonald's is a franchise business

8. Housing Styles in the U.S. Since 1960s
Neo-eclectic House Styles became popular
-First popular one was the mansard (late 60s early 70s)
-Shingle-covered, second story walls sloped slightly inward and merged into the roofline
-Neo-Tudor(1970s)
-Dominant, steep-pitched front-facing gables and half-timbered detailing
-Neo-French(early 1970s-1980s)
-Dormer windows with rounded tops and high-hipped roofs
