With respect to the train trips, six train station pixels made it into the top 10 pixels, due to the proximity of Union County to Manhattan presumably.
However, aTaxi trips still make up the bulk of all travel, and much of this is to train stations.
The histogram to the left shows the distribution of trip lengths throughout an entire day of trips originating in Union.

This is an example cumulative distribution of taxi trip originations in the top pixel in Union County. Clearly, the majority of the activity in this pixel is due to work and school, as about 85% of the trips originated occur after noon. This corresponds to employees and students making their way home at the end of the day. Specifically, almost half of the trips in the pixel originate between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM, which is the approximate period of rush hour.
Unfortunately, it was entirely infeasible for us to conduct this analysis for all 20 pixels in our report, as Excel’s filtering of data by pixel is unconscionably slow.
