1. For the past several months the MBAA Brewery Awards Ad Hoc committee has been working on the creation of a new MBAA award – one that would recognize breweries who demonstrate excellence in a variety of categories. By recognizing excellence in the brewing industry through its award program, MBAA helps to encourage and support ongoing industry advancements. The new MBAA Brewery Award of Excellence will be given annually at the MBAA National Conference and will recognize breweries that demonstrate excellence in one of three award categories. Sustainability will be the award category for the first MBAA Brewery Award of Excellence in 2014.

2. Brewery Award of Excellence
Eligibility
Open to breweries of all sizes and will recognize a single manufacturing site based on a single project. Breweries that have completed a sustainability project from January 2011 to present are encouraged to apply for the award.
Projects will be judged on:
Degree of improvement
Local impact on workers and the community
Benchmarks to industry standards
Innovativeness and uniqueness of approach
Number of KPIs impacted versus degree of simplicity
The 2014 Brewery Award of Excellence in the category of sustainability is open to breweries of all sizes and will recognize a single manufacturing site based on a single project. The winning brewery will be announced at the 2014 Brewing Summit and will receive two complimentary annual conference registrations to the 2014 Brewing Summit and an honorarium, a plaque of recognition, recognition at the 2014 Brewing Summit, announcement in the MBAA Communicator, and on the MBAA website. The winning application will be published in the Technical Quarterly Journal and announced through media public relation outlets. Applications are being accepted through February 14.
