2 Summary of Journal Title: The effect of television news items on intimate partner violence (IPV). Title: The effect of television news items on intimate partner violence (IPV). Purpose: To explore the effect of the growing appearance of IPV in television news items on deaths by this cause. Methods: The study was based on 340 deaths by IPV and 3733 television news items covering IPV. The researchers thought that the 340 deaths were related and caused by the partner seeing IPV and then carrying out IPV. A study was carried out to see how many IPV related deaths were caused by IPV before a news item and after a news item aired relating to IPV. The researchers did this by monitoring the number of IPV related deaths 7 days before an IPV news item aired and 7 days after an IPV news item aired. 3 Information/Observations IPV = Intimate Partner Violence IPV = Intimate Partner Violence In 2003 and 2007, there were 340 deaths by IPV and 3733 news items covering the topic of IPV on Spanish channels.
