1 The Urban Game

2 On your paper… Draw a river across your paper connecting east to west; the river should be about 1/2 inch wide. Draw a simple wooden bridge crossing the river. Draw 2 roads one running north to south and crossing the river at the bridge and one running from east to west. Neither road need be a straight line. Draw 10 houses; 1 church; 1 cemetery; 1 store; 1 pub; 1 coalmine; and at least 50 trees!!

3 Round One Build a canal on your map parallel to your river
Build a nice home anywhere on the map

4 Round Two Add 5 houses (you should have 15 total)

5 Round Three Fence off a 3”x3” area and label it as the “commons”
Add 5 more houses Add 1 more nice house

6 Round Four Add 1 Factory (no smoke since it runs on water power). It must be placed by the river, canal water won’t power it enough Add 5 more houses for the workers

7 Round Five Add the following; 15 houses 1 church 1 Pub 1 Store
1 additional bridge You may also include more roads

8 Round Six Add: 5 new factories on the riverbank
Add 5 more houses (you should have 45 regular houses now)

9 Round Seven Add 5 tenements

10 Round Eight Add: 1 Pub 1 Store 1 Church
1 School for wealthy families to send students (boys) to

11 Round Nine Add 5 more pubs Destroy 5 houses Add 4 tenements

12 Round Ten Add 2 special homes, nice manor houses that are well built, well furnished and have fancy art Add 1 factory Add 15 houses You might need to remove some trees…

13 Round Eleven Add 10 factories with smoke, add smoke to all existing factories Add 1 nicer house Add 5 regular homes Add 1 tenement
