3. Web Query Tool
As can be seen from the diagram, the LDB system can be divided into three main components of input, core components and output.
The purpose of output components is to report on the data that is stored in the system.
Your database administrator must have granted a read and write access to the database through a username and password.
The data can be reported on using Canned Reports, ProClarity, Pivot Tables and the Web Query Tool. The Custom Management Tool can also be used for viewing data that is input in the system. However, this tool is primarily used for manipulating data that is in the system and not as a reporting tool. Data obtained from the database can also be published to CD-ROM or printed on hard copies.

Equation Validation - a World Bank tool that is used to check the validity of the equation within the database

4. Web Query Tool Open Internet Explorer to launch the tool.
The tool will open to a view similar to the one shown on the right.
As can be seen from the picture on the right hand side, there are five tabs that need to be selected in order to complete a request for information on the database.

5. Web Query Tool
Alternatively, the Tree View can be used to select the database.
A typical view is shown on the right.
However, for the purposes of this training only one database is used and therefore there is no value in using the tree view for the selection of the databases
Using the previous screen select the Regional Databases Option
Click on Select

6. Web Query Tool Highlight and Select the Country and click on Next
The Clear button will allow the user to clear whatever has been selected
The Delete button can be used to delete selected values

7. Web Query Tool Highlight and Select the Time Series and click on Next

8. Web Query Tool Highlight and Select the Time periods and click on Next

9. Web Query Tool The results of the query will appear on the screen
The user can then manipulate the data according to their requirements
That is Data Type, Orientation, Decimals, Units and Formats
The data can also be exported into Excel for manipulation
