4 How much information do I need?
Does the information fit my assignment? What details does the source have?

5 When the information source was last published or updated?
Is there a copyright date? Is older information ever better?

6 Take the time to find out who is behind the information!
Is the information totally true? Who is behind the information? What are the author's qualifications? Is the author associated with an organization?

7 Does the information have a particular angle, slant, or spin to it
Does the information have a particular angle, slant, or spin to it? Does the information exist because someone wants to inform me, persuade me, entertain me, or sell me something? Look for clues. Clues like: the domain name the domain suffix (.com, .edu, .gov, etc.) the advertising the mission statement the authorship or organization behind the information the tone of voice or language used Bias isn't always bad. We benefit from hearing other people's opinions.
