2 Ever feel this way after talking with someone or a group about any issue?

3 What about graphs and information we find all around us ?

4 Just because you are right does not mean I am wrong.
Perspective Just because you are right does not mean I am wrong. Beth Hendrickson, Still Elementary School

5 OneDrive If you click on a document in OneDrive, it opens in the online version of the program. Be sure to open it in the regular version to have the most functionality and for it to appear “as is”.

6 OneNote If your laptop’s icon does NOT have what appears to be a binder, it is the app- not the full program. It looks different and does not have some functions. Your IT person can help you change this. The notebook is just like a paper binder with pages and sections (and subsections or subpages in some cases). If you see a printout of a document on a page in the binder, it is just a picture of the page as it was when it was added. The LINK above will take you to the actual document that can be edited. The document will be the most current. I did discover that the link should actually warn me that the printout is not the most up-to-date and ask if you want to refresh. I don’t know if this will work for people I share with or just for me. Related: Hyperlinks in the printout will not work. If you open the document, they do. If you click “lesson in framework” from the page with more information, use the “back” arrow at the top to go back to the page you were on.

7 Reminders This unit is about teaching students how to think, analyze, and ask questions about what they see, read, and hear. Be careful of this line helping students support their opinions and articulate what they think telling students what they think/persuading them to change what they think

8 Tips for staying on the correct side of the line
Remind of and model active listening (from group dynamics)- particularly paraphrasing and clarifying what the other person said.

9 Focus on critical thinking and analysis of the reasoning behind arguments.
Does it make sense? Does the argument, statement, or conclusion logically follow from the supporting statements? Were any statistics used gathered in a reliable way? Where did the speaker get his/her information? What is the background, experience, or possibly the literal location of the person making the argument or statement?

10 Avoid giving your opinion (even with your facial expression, tone, or body language) on most issues, especially any that are controversial. If you do, make sure it is in a way that makes clear that it is YOUR opinion- and support yours well.
