*Per. 1-2-you need your folder and your both notebooks. *Per 4-8 you need both notebooks.

2 Today, I will: WARM-UP-Read my own book daily(notes and reading log)
READING-Read aloud to build fluency (later this week) Reading/Writing Connection-Learn and apply figurative language devices (poetry) *Simile - Metaphor practices WRITING&GRAMMAR-Write a response to a journal prompt WORD STUDY- Period 1-2 discuss and apply common prefixes and suffixes Period 4-8- discuss and apply common prefixes and suffixes and vocabulary unit 9 words (words meaning together)

Thursday, November 17-Reading Skills TEST CCA *POSTPONED UNTIL NOVEMBER 29-TUESDAY AFTER THANKSGIVING BREAK Per. 4-8 Vocabulary HW due and Quiz-unit 9 TOMORROW Library Day has been changed to THURSDAY this week! Friday reading logs due!

Catch up on other make-up, late, or missing work

Reading warm-up set timer for ten minutes for students to read independently while you take attendance (explain that fluency passages will be read aloud to Ms. Nye later this week) 2. Simile/Metaphor Quiz-on desk in sheet protectors (class set) Students copy and label all 20 sentences as either simile or metaphor-turn in when done into colored baskets per class 3. Simile/Metaphor Practice-on desk in sheet protectors (class set) Students copy and answer all 10 metaphor sentences in reader’s notebook Students read and complete “Abueltio Who” poetry assignment with similes and metaphors on own in reader’s notebook 4. Writing Notebook prompt-What are you thankful for? Students write ½-1 page response in writing notebook *Work on vocabulary unit 9 homework and/or study for quiz if finished with all other work *When in doubt, READ!!! *No PRIDE today-cancelled due to Ms. Nye having to leave
