3 Dry Chemnyergin Water Pan (has never dried before)
Water availability Most households relying on rivers, boreholes, streams, Shallow wells, springs, piped water Recharge to open water sources was about 50% in most parts; 30% in Turkana, Pokot North, N/Horr & Loiyangalani in Marsabit, Lamu, Magharini in Kilifi; About 70% of pans have dried up in Baringo, West Pokot, Lamu, Kilifi, Turkana, Marsabit, Samburu (Pastoral) Tana River & Kajiado; Remaining pans estimated to contain water until End of Feb – Mid March Rivers below base flows in Kieni, Laikipia, Baringo, Isiolo & Makueni About 70 percent of pans in Moyale and 30 percent in the Agro pastoral parts of Samburu are currently holding water. However, 70 percent of open surface water sources in Pastoral zones of Samburu have dried up. In Saku Sub-county in Agro-pastoral zone and North horr and Laisamis Sub-counties in Pastoral livelihood zones, all the pans have already dried up. About 80 percent of Water pans in Pastoral, Fishing and Agro-pastoral areas of Turkana have also dried up Over 80 percent of water pans in West Pokot and about 70 percent of water pans have dried up in Baringo and the remaining water pans are likely to last for 1-2 month in Pastoral and 2-3 months in the Mixed and Agro-pastoral zones. Coast: 90% of pans dry in Taita Taveta, expected to last until the next season in all the livelihood zones of Kwale County Dry Chemnyergin Water Pan (has never dried before)

N.E Normal in Pastoral N.E cluster at 5-10Km, 10-15Km in most parts of Tana River & Isiolo (Malkagalla, Kipsing & Oldonyiro) 20-30Km in Tana River (Hurara, Assa, Onjila, Hara & Kone, Haroresa, Wayu, Titila, Waldena, Hakoka and Chifiri) & Mandera P.N.W Increased from 2-5km in Agro-pastoral &Fishing zones to 5-7Km, Pastoral areas increased from 3-5Km to 7-10Km in Marsabit & Pastoral areas of Turkana and Samburu Up to 10Km in Moyale (Mado-Adi, Sololo, Dabel, Ele Borr), Saku (Goro Rukesa, Qachacha); Laisamis (Guldas, Lekuchula, Ririma), North Horr (Forolle, Hurri Hills) 20 -24Km in Sagante, Pastoral areas of Farakoren & Lekuchula, Tigo and Qattamurr IN Marsabit S.E Average 2-5Km, Increased to 5 – 10Km in MMF zones of Kitui and all parts of Makueni.

Increased from 1Km in MMF areas of Kieni and Laikipia to 3Km Increased from 2-5km to 5-10km in Agro-p areas of Narok, Pastoral areas of Laikipia, Pastoral and Agro-P zones of Baringo and West Pokot Increased from 2-5Km in Kajiado to 5-10km in Agro-p & 20-30km in Pastoral zones. Coast Average 1-5Km across the cluster 7-10Km in Taita Taveta (Zungulukani, Kisimenyi, Mkamenyi, Mbulia , parts of Mbololo, Mwachabo, Rukangs Mwakitau, Mata-Jipe and Nakruto), Fishing and mangrove zones of Lamu

Water vendors: Ksh in Samburu, Marsabit, West Pokot, Kilifi, Lamu, Taita Taveta, Balambala in Garissa, Isiolo (Madogashe, Malkagalla) Ksh in Marsabit (Huri Hills, Elle Borr, QattaMurr), Lamu (Bargoni, Mtangawanda, Siyu, Tchundwa, Miyabogi, Bwajumwali) Nyimbei Borehole (Solar powered) in Tiaty Rukanga in Taita Taveta

Cluster Waiting Time at the Sources N.E Range from mins, normally <30 mins. MMF zones of Tana River increasd from normal mins to 1-2 Hrs. Isolated cases in Chifiri, Hakoka and Titila in Tana River, up to 5Hrs N.W Normal at 30 minutes in Samburu; up to 2-3 Hrs in Sagante, Gatab & Elebor in Marsabit. Increased from 30 mins to 60 minutes in Agro-p zones, mins in Pastoral and Fishing zones of Turkana, & minutes in Marsabit. S.E Increased from <30 mins to 20 – 60 mins in the cluster; 60–90 Mins in Kitui & Makueni, up to 2Hrs in MMF of Kitui Agro-p Within 30 mins in Kieni, Laikipia, Narok and Baringo Increased from 30 to mins in Pastoral & Agro-p areas of W/Pokot. Agro-p & Pastoral areas of Kajiado: 2-3 Hrs from the normal mins Up 2Hrs in Nyangaita & Nyimbei in Baringo where community access water three times in a week Coast Increased from mins to the current 1-6 Hrs in MMF & ranching zones of Kilifi and livestock zone of Taita Taveta

8 Water Consumption (Litres Per Person Per Day)
Cluster Domestic Water Consumption N.E Normal at Lppd, except the pastoral zones of Garissa, Isiolo Mandera: 5-10Lppd N.W Declined from 15-20Lppd to litres in Agro-p areas of Turkana and Samburu Declined from 10-15Lppd to 5-10 litres in both the Agro-p & Pastoral zones of Marsabit, & Pastoral areas of Turkana & Samburu <4Lppd in Arge, Lekuchula, Marime, Torricha & Amballo in Marsabit S.E 12-15Lppd (Normal). However, MMF zones of Tharaka & Kitui: 4-10Lppd compared to the normal Lppd Agro-p Most areas decreased from 15-20Lppd to Lppd, 15-20Lppd in MF of Kieni, Baringo, West Pokot & Kajiado; 20-30Lppd in MF zones of Laikipia & Narok. Coast Normal at 15-20Lppd in Taita Taveta & Kwale; 6-10Lppd in Kilifi and Lamu, normally 15-20Lppd
