Very similar to 13C, however this time we are looking at the environment that hydrogen atoms are in. The spectrum shows: The number of proton environments (number of peaks) The types of proton environments (chemical shift) The number of equivalent protons (relative height of peaks)

7 Knowledge Check Identify the number of proton environments and identify the chemical shifts in the following molecules Ethane Propane Propanoic acid 2-methylpropanal Given this information draw a possible spectrum for each of these molecules taking care with the height of each peak.

8 Past Paper Question Try the past paper question which combines all the spectra we have looked at to date. We will mark it in 10 minutes.
