3 What will you learn today?
Launching DxStudio 3.0 & XMetaL 8.0 Getting familiar with workspaces Searching for your topics (Dx) Uploading (Dx) and inserting art (XM) Editing topics (XM) Linking to other topics (XM) and external sites

4 Quick Update Scott Dines
Jackie presents

5 What’s different? Titles are edited in the metadata of DxStudio; not XMetaL Local preview is instant for Office.com or TechNet + MSDN Less metadata per topic Performance is much faster Topics will be published once every 24 hours. The goal is to create a shorter time between deployments. Build deployment is based on size; support=20 min, templates=2.5 hrs. You can save search queries, but you can’t share them. Updates to DX and XM will be continuous from now to post-migration; a regular cadence will be established after all is migrated and stable.

13 Create your local, working folder
Note You will need to set up a local working folder that caches the DxStudio topics for each database.

14 Hello, DxStudio

15 Search for Existing or Stubbed Topic

16 Create a New Topic (stubs)
During quarterly planning, add topic ideas (or planned updates) to the planning workbooks. Release Managers add bugs to Product studio & topics are ‘stubbed out’ into DxStudio. DO NOT create new topics directly in DxStudio, since this breaks our topic-tracking workflow. Create unplanned topics via a Product Studio bug, which triggers a stub to be created for you in DxStudio.

17 Upload Art Each piece of art is contained within it’s own project folder. To upload art: First, create an art project folder. Second, Add art and support files to the project folder. Create Art Project folder Navigate to the top-level Art folder, then click File > Request Art. Fill in the following pieces of meta-data: Title: Type name for art (technically a project folder). Status: New Alt text: Type alternative text. Click OK. Add Art to Project folder In the New folder, open the art project folder you just created. Right-click the art project, then click Add Online File. Add art from \\tk2offfsm03\FileShares\DXStudio3Training This will add the art file that you want your user to see.

18 Edit a Topic From DxStudio, navigate to the zzDeleteMe/zzTraining folder. Select your topic. Right-click the topic and click Edit.
