2. Long i Patterns
When I see a part of a word that has ie or igh, I know it sounds like the letter i when it says its name.
I know that sometimes when a word has an i, it makes the long i sound instead of the short i sound.
For example:

There was just a slight chance for rain so I did not bring my umbrella.

4. mild
I like to eat mild food because I don’t like how it feels when I eat spicy food!
mild spicy

5. sight
Glasses help you have better sight so you can read.

6. pie
I love to eat all kinds of pie!

7. mind
My mom didn’t mind that my brother made such a mess since it was his birthday.
The human mind can think of a lot of things at one time.

8. tie
Tie your shoes so you don’t trip.
Some men like to wear a tie.

9. pilot
A pilot is the person who flies a plane.

10. might
When you play a game, you might win or you might lose, but it is still fun!

11. lie
Parents always seem to know when you are telling a lie and not the truth.
After a long day at the fair, it felt good to lie down.

12. tight
Her new shirt was too tight so she had to change it for a bigger one.
The mom hugged her child tight when she saw her after a long time away.

13. blind
People who are blind cannot see, but they can still do many of the things other people can do.

14. fight
Kittens fight when they play to practice hunting.

15. die It is always hard when pets die.
When you have more than 1 dice, they are called die.

16. midnight
Midnight is 12:00 in the morning, halfway between night and morning.
