Parent responsibilities in supporting your child's use of the Chromebook.
-Ensuring it is charged each night.
-Ensuring it comes to and from school in its case each day.
-Label the case- Distinctive tag or embroidered.
-Label your Chromebook- front and back.
-Label the cord.
-As a family identify a place to safely keep the Chromebook when not in use.

-Check school stream and class notes for information regarding days when aren’t required at school.
-Ensure that the Chromebook is well looked after.
-If students do not bring Chromebooks to school or they are flat, parents will not be contacted nor will the device be replaced with a school device.
-Give praise and encouragement about positive use of the Chromebook.
-Show interest and enthusiasm about what your child is learning and doing on the Chromebook. -

-As stated in our St Mary’s BYODD Chromebook Usage Policy, Primary students should not use devices for close-up work for no more than 30 minutes at a time
-Primary students should use devices for no more than 2 hours a day.
-Examples of activities include Spelling activities for 10 minutes, researching a topic for 30 minutes, practicing typing skills 10 minutes, extension and consolidation work through Mathletics and Maths online, collaborative work through the Google Apps for Education.

-Parental vigilance of Chromebook use at home is required (as with all other electronic devices).
-Personal accounts can be set up at parents discretion.
-There are a number of safety devices and web filtering products that parents can research and purchase to suit the needs of their family.

-Some problems may require us to seek assistance beyond the school level & therefore take more time to solve.
