Partnership with south Africa made Stanbic bank the mot dominant commercial bank with 27% of bank assets and 20% bank branches

9. Banking sector in different countries.
In Zimbabwe Banks total assets grew by around US$1.1 billion from US$6,9 billion 2015 to US$8,1 billion in 2016 supported by more than 80% growth in Government securities and Real-Time Gross Settlement balances.
The financial sector in South Africa is well developed and comprises 30 banks with almost 4,000 branches, two mutual banks, and a number of foreign bank branches and offices, non-banking financial institutions (including state-owned development finance institutions (DFIs), smaller financial intermediaries and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, the 18th largest in the world in 2011.

These countries bank sector has been increasing gradually since 1990’s up to date. Official licensed banks increase in number, number of branches which automatically increases there bank assets and the government taxes thus contributing greatly to there countries budget and sector.
