1 Two years after… Experiences of INELI Oceania Innovators Nina Nakaora Ania Biazik
Kia ora koutou katoa. Ko Ania Biazik ahau. Mahi ahau i roto i te whare pukapuka - Ngā Whare Mātauranga o Tāmaki Makaurau. Kia ora. Greetings colleagues and friends. Although I am a Pakeha I chose to introduce myself in Maori to acknowledge the connection to the history of the people of Aotearoa and Auckland. My names is Ania Biazik – I come from Poland and have been living in Auckland since 2005. I would like to share with you about journey and experience with INELI Oceania 2 in the last two years. #APLIC18 August 2018

2 International Network of Emerging Library Innovators - INELI  an initiative of the Global Libraries project of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini. My strength does not come from my individuality, my strength comes from many. Maori proverbs speak a hundreds words for me – I chose this one to support my approach to life. Throughout my library career I witnessed many successes and these successes come from efforts of many individuals. Team work is one of my values. I had a chance to work in a few teams and offer the support of receive the support. #APLIC18 August 2018

4 Innovation and smart failure
Nina’s story about the internet and the computer for cataloguing + talk about smart failure Ania’s story about the Data and the impact report Must mention resilience in innovation!!!! Data I experienced an eureka moment while studying this module: I realised that my organisation does not collect outcome data very well, that the customer experience staff collects only attendance statistics at programmes and events, and there was only the Summer Reading programme Kia Maia Te Whai which had a designed survey to collect impact data. It took me a few months to inspire my immediate colleagues to start collecting impact data. Examples: Ch/NZ salon series inspired independent poetry clubs - we are capturing this data in a planned way; Auckland Conversation Group - the staff collects now customer testimonials what change this programme makes for them. These are very early days and trials, the second half of July 2018 will see more innovation in collecting outcome data in programming in Central City Library. Advocacy I have realised the power of storytelling. Example: Library outreach to ECE in Auckland CBD - impact report. This tool, in a form of a report, and a short 30 second video introducing the report, position the Library as an innovator, advocate and reinforces the public trust. #APLIC18 August 2018
