1 Let’s Pray

2 Trust Proverbs 3:5–6 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. 3 points- one result heart= himself, myself….so, trust with everything you’ve got!

3 2 Kings 18:5–8 5 He trusted in the Lord God of Israel, so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor who were before him. 6 For he held fast to the Lord; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the Lord had commanded Moses. King Hezekiah Just before- removed all the altars to false god’s that had been erected Judah was trying to play it safe…the temple and the high places

4 7 The Lord was with him; he prospered wherever he went
7 The Lord was with him; he prospered wherever he went. And he rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him. 8 He subdued the Philistines, as far as Gaza and its territory, from watchtower to fortified city. Deliverance, safety and prosperity

5 The king of Assyria came against Samaria and conquered it
Now it came to pass: The king of Assyria came against Samaria and conquered it Then the fortified cities of Judah fell “It came to pass”, not to stay! In the 4th year of his reign in 3 years In Hezekiah’s 14th year

6 2 Kings 18:14 14 Then Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria at Lachish, saying, “I have done wrong; turn away from me; whatever you impose on me I will pay.” And the king of Assyria assessed Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold. all the silver in the House of the Lord and his personal treasury stripped gold overlay from doors and pillars of temple which he had had installed

7 2 Kings 18:19 19 Then the Rabshakeh said to them, “Say now to Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria: “What confidence is this in which you trust? Always the big question—-what is your trust really in when the chips are down

8 2 Kings 18:22 22 But if you say to me, ‘We trust in the Lord our God,’ is it not He whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and said to Judah and Jerusalem, ‘You shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem’?” ’ what he had done right comes under attack Remember Jesus and the Samaritan woman?

9 2 Kings 18:25 25 Have I now come up without the Lord against this place to destroy it? The Lord said to me, ‘Go up against this land, and destroy it.’ ” God, your God, sent me here to destroy your city! Please speak to us in Aramaic, not Hebrew

10 2 Kings 18:29–30 29 Thus says the king: ‘Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he shall not be able to deliver you from his hand; 30 nor let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord, saying, “The Lord will surely deliver us; this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.” ’ no god anywhere has ever delivered anyone from our great king!

11 2 Kings 18:36 36 But the people held their peace and answered him not a word; for the king’s commandment was, “Do not answer him.” Often the best answer is no answer at all- refuse to consider anything that contradicts your faith in God’s covenant Word

12 2 Kings 19:5–7 5 So the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah. 6 And Isaiah said to them, “Thus you shall say to your master, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Do not be afraid of the words which you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed Me. 7 Surely I will send a spirit upon him, and he shall hear a rumor and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.” ’ ” Isaiah’s prophecies about Jesus

13 2 Kings 19:17–19 17 Truly, Lord, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands, 18 and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were not gods, but the work of men’s hands—wood and stone. Therefore they destroyed them. 19 Now therefore, O Lord our God, I pray, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the Lord God, You alone.”

14 2 Kings 19:20 20 Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘Because you have prayed to Me against Sennacherib king of Assyria, I have heard.’ “Because you prayed- I have heard

15 2 Kings 19:35 35 And it came to pass on a certain night that the angel of the Lord went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when people arose early in the morning, there were the corpses—all dead. Remember Jesus saying the Father would send 12 legions of angels to fight for Him Legion ,000….X12=54,000 each capable of killing 185,000…about 10 billion!
