Rodeos go all the way back to the 1700’s when the
West was ruled by the Spanish. Vaqueros had to complete chores on the open fields. Vaqueros were the Spanish cattleman. They were assigned jobs, some of which included, roping, horse breaking, riding, herding, and branding. They became so experienced with the tasks, that they made a sport out of it. The sport soon became well-known to the world, and people who weren’t even cowboys wanted to compete in the challenges.

3. Rodeos
A rodeo can be referred to as a contest in which cowboys show how skilled they are at riding broncos, wrestling steers, and rounding up cattle
There are two types of rodeos; there’s one that is timed and another that is judged
The roping contest originated from cowboys holding cattle to be medically attended to
In Spanish, rodeo means “go around”
Animals featured in rodeos are provoked to behave aggressively but they are not originally like that

A rodeo cowboy named Alvin Nelson was champion of the sport during the 1960’s and 1950’s. He won the saddle bronc world championship at Madison Square Garden. Mr. Nelson won the all-around title in Nelson met the requirements for five Wrangler National Finals Rodeos. Alvin was born on April 5, of 1934 and died December 23, 2014, when he was at the age of 80.

5. Types of Rodeos
There are many different kinds of activities in rodeos. There is cattle herding, which is when cowboys gather individual cattle into a group. Calf roping, a timed event when a rider chases and lassos a calf, dismounts, and pushes the calf to the ground and then ties up three of its legs with a small rope. Bareback riding, which is when a rider is on the animal with no equipment or saddle. Steer wrestling, one of the most challenging yet quickest events of a rodeo, is when the cowboy has to throw a steer twice his weight to the ground after chasing and catching it. 6. About Rodeos
Although Rodeos began such a long time ago, they are still being scheduled and are occurring today. People all around the world compete in them. They go head to head through out different challenges. Most of the time, if you win the activity, you get money as a reward, not to mention the bragging rights. Rodeos can take place pretty much wherever there is open land, animals, and people to take on the challenge. Two players facing off Money
