2. What is Canadian Families 12?
This program addresses the evolution of Canadian Families through activities that will help you, the student, to deepen your understanding of:
the nature of a family,
its life cycle,
the roles and responsibilities within the family,
the historical and cultural perspectives.

3. You will:
Examine The role of the Canadian Family in society.
Develop an Understanding How a Canadian family differs from families of other countries.
Take the Opportunity Look through many mediums, such as media, to see its influence on our views of the family.

Differing beliefs, religions, sexualities, values, cultural groups and traditions.
↠ Develop an Understanding
How each Canadian can manipulate traditional views of “family” and make it your own.
Own values and expectations of each family member and how they reflect your surroundings.
Unexpected Highlight what’s new, unusual, or surprising.
Emotional Give people a reason to care.
Simple Provide a simple unifying message for what is to come

10. Independent Study Project
-identify issues impacting families
-complete an independent study project on a family related issue that reflects an understanding of family dynamics & development

11. As you can see we will be following the family life cycle.
There are a variety of resources available to you.
Your textbook is entitled Individuals and Families in a Diverse Society.
We will also be using: Vanier Institute of the Family, Statistics Canada, and many other Canadian resources.
Another textbook that we will be visiting in the classroom is Profiling Canada’s Families III
Resources
As you can see we will be following the family life cycle.

A binder or folder to keep your work in. (This will be turned in periodically for marking).
To be on time and prepared to contribute to classroom learning - be an active learner.
Must use Google Docs to keep up with the happenings in the classroom
