Three slides:

9 Supplemental slides: Cellular respiration and ATP

10 ATP and ADP Scale: 10-7 meters = 100nm = 100 nanometers
Middle school don’t want this silde. Scale: 10-7 meters = 100nm = 100 nanometers

11 What are functions of ATP and ADP?
Plant cells need energy for all their functions, such as moving the plant in response to light, moving water, minerals, and sugars around, and making smaller molecules into larger molecules Plant cells use ATP as the energy source for all of these functions The purpose of cellular respiration is to make high-energy ATP molecules by combining lower-energy ADP molecules with phosphate from soil minerals

12 Matter & Energy Process Tool Cellular respiration (ADP to ATP )
Heat Chemical Energy (in glucose) chemical energy (in ATP) Glucose + Oxygen Carbon Dioxide + Water ADP + P ATP Cellular respiration (ADP to ATP ) 12

13 Matter & Energy Process Tool Cellular respiration (ATP to ADP)
Heat Chemical Energy (in ATP) Chemical Energy (for cellular function) Glucose + Oxygen Carbon Dioxide + Water ATP ADP + P Cellular respiration (ATP to ADP) 13
