Pollution Prevention Act of 1990

Pollution Prevention is…
The reduction or elimination of waste at it’s source by modifying production processes, and promoting more environmentally friendly types of technology.

What Is It? The act states that it is the “national policy of the United States that pollution should be prevented or reduced at the source whenever feasible”.

WHY? Congress realized that countless amounts of pollution were being produced and billions of dollars were being spent attempting to control it. The act would save companies money that they had been spending on pollution control.

Creates healthier and safer work environments.
And most importantly….
