Presentation on theme: "IP-NNI Task Force – Phase 2"— Presentation transcript:

1 IP-NNI Task Force – Phase 2
IP-NNI Phase 1 focused on: Voice interconnection on the wire Documented routing alternatives and use or non use of numbering databases IP-NNI Phase 2 could: Security Secure caller-ID aka STIR Enhanced caller-ID aka CNAM + Services beyond voice: Video, RCS Further evaluation of routing alternatives to validate interworking approach and “narrow options”.

2 NNI Phase 2 Operationalize Phase 1
The NANC Fields in the NPAC need to be specified Document requirements for the NPAC Transition if needed.

3 IP-NNI Phase 2: Security
IP-NNI Phase 1 “replicated PSTN Security”. Establish secure “encrypted tunnel” Media and signaling follow the same path PSTN assumptions do not hold for IP: Optimal media routing Local breakout for data NFV virtualizes functions in data center End-to-end analysis required to ensure security Secure caller-ID aka STIR Support across IP-NNI and within the ATIS Test bed At some point the key material needs to be defined

4 IP-NNI Phase 2: Enhanced Services
Services beyond voice – potential candidates include: Video interconnect HD voice RCS - Enterprise integration aka SIPConnect 2.0? Enhanced Caller-ID: Actively being worked in PTSC IETF and SG 1 3GPP?? Text string and/or JSON Vcard Potential need to develop converged solution and where is he work done and the big one … what is the Header to be used Next steps: Identify role for IP-NNI TF

5 IP-NNI Phase 2: Routing Alternatives
IP-NNI Task Force identified routing alternatives. Did not recommend a preferred approach Further evaluation could validate proposed approaches. Analysis of interworking between different approaches. Assess feasibility of interworking between approaches Assess need for interworking between approaches Identify use cases to test solutions. Potential to “narrow options”. Actual Testing of routing alternatives

6 NNI Phase 2 The Testbed What if anything do we want to say about that
Where are the public keys going to go? The UA hint.. What is the device or UA we are contacting. What is is potential capability?

7 IP-NNI Phase 2: Next Steps
Identify where others are doing similar work OVCC IMTC in Video? Assess overlaps, gaps and synergies Define clear objectives for IP-NNI TF Value for doing identified work in IP-NNI TF Identify why the IP-NNI TF is the best place to progress work.

8 IP-NNI Phase 2: Next Steps
Video calling (Richard) Profile Routing (Jim) Coordinated input and testing Interaction with testbeds IETF Coordination Role Modern STIR Security (Jim) Whitepaper Implementable and deployable Focus on interconnection/NNI perspective Education process Message: “we’re working the issue” STIR Profile (Jim and Chris) Key discovery Alignment with routing Testbed CNAM Plus (Richard)

9 IP-NNI Phase 2: Timeline
Draft Text: end of May Phase 2 agreement: end of June Initial virtual meeting: July Face-to-face meeting: August 6 Denver, CO
