2. Intertidal zone explained
The intertidal zone, also known as the Littoral zone, is the area in between the high tide and low tide mark. (where the land meets the sea).
The land is exposed to air at low tide, and completely underwater at hightide.

3. Depth of the intertidal zone
The depth of the intertidal zone is around 16 to 33 feet
The intertidal zone has different layers or zones which affect the depth. These are:
The spray zone is land that is splashed and sometimes submerged whenever their is high tides.
The high tide zone is below the spray zone and is submerged during high tides
The middle tide zone is usually submerged except during low tide
The low tide zone is submerged and is only shown during very low tides

8. Three Facts about Intertidal Zones
In intertidal zone, the salinity is much higher because the salt water in salt pools evaporates leaving the salt behind.
Tide Pools are formed at low tide.
The intertidal zone is a key role for feeding a lot of the ocean animal life because most of the oceans plant life is in the intertidal zone.

9. Animal Life
Since the intertidal zone is abundant in nutrients, many organisms live there. These animals must be able to survive in wet and dry conditions since the tides move up and down.
They must also be able to survive in harsh waves, they don't want to be carried away.
They have to be able to live when temperature changes from the water and air
Lastly they have to be able to live with change is salinity because tide pools can form and salinity can vary depending runoff and rainfall.

10. Plant life
Plant life in the intertidal zone is different in each layer of the intertidal zone.
Plants in the lower intertidal zone are mostly adapted to water and those plants are: seaweed, sea lettuce, sea palms, and green algae. These plants typically are larger and grow taller.
In the mid- intertidal zone the plants like seaweed and algae are smaller, and there isn’t a large variety of species.
In the upper mid-intertidal zone there are a few plants because of the continuous changing of the tides.
The splash zone plants are very rare.

Tides are regular movement of the water that goes up and down (high and low) on all coast of the ocean.
How are tides made?
Tides are made from mainly the moon’s but also the sun's gravitational pull to earth. When all three are aligned the tides are strongest.

The animals and plants that live here are used to the changing of the tides, and the amount of water they get, and without them everything would be messed up.
