6 Recommendations: general
Visit your presentation room the morning of your talk between 8:00AM and 9:00AM (on July 4th and July 5th), or during Coffee Breaks and Lunches (on all days), to upload your presentation and verify that all necessary materials are in place and tested in their presentation venue Presenters are requested to find an opportunity in advance of the presentation to familiarize themselves with the venue and podium environment Introduce yourself to the chairperson(s) in your session before the session starts, provide her/him with your BIO (a form can be found in the SMACD 2018 website) so that she/he knows you are ready to give your talk 22 November, 2018 Your name/affiliation here

7 Recommendations: colors
Try to use only colors that convert for black and white printing The distinction between blue and black for text and thin lines is especially weak Red filled-in objects (circles, rectangles, etc.) with white text are well-suited for highlighting important text Provide high contrast between text and background Avoid colour blindness traps (e.g., requiring viewers to distinguish between reds and greens on your chart) Be aware that the contrast of your computer monitor is much higher than that of a projector in a partly lit room 22 November, 2018 Your name/affiliation here

8 Recommendations: tips
Use sans-serif fonts (e.g., Calibri, Arial, Verdana, Helvetica) Do not use all uppercase letters Minimize the amount of text on each slide Minimize the number of slides in your presentation (ca. 15 = about 1/minute) Use high quality graphics/images but no larger (file size) than necessary for the screen resolution Present a story for your audience and put your work in context Formulas: use the Microsoft Equation Editor, MathType fonts (don’t forget to embed your font set), or even small pictures Use clipart only when it helps to state your point Use at least 1½ pt. line width in drawings Stick with one transition effect throughout your presentation Stick to Miller's Magic Number 22 November, 2018 Your name/affiliation here
