2 I. Strain A. What is it? a. S t r e t c h i n g and or tearing of muscles or tendons b. Tendons are stronger so muscles usually injured first

3 B. Causes of Strains 1. Lifting too much 2. Working a muscle too hard
3. Sudden movements

4 C. Where Do They Occur? Neck 2. Back 3. Hamstrings 4. Quads

5 II. Dislocations A. Displacement of a bone from its normal
position at a joint B. Caused by a hard force C. Most common for fingers and shoulders

6 D. How Can You Tell If a Joint Is Dislocated?
1. Deformity at the Joint

7 III. Sprains What is a Sprain? Stretching and/or tearing of ligaments
and/or cartilage at a joint Usually caused when a joint is forced beyond normal range of motion
