(A) When all motion units of a region have a normal ROM, each motion unit contributes to the overall ROM of that region. (B) When a subluxation or restriction is present in a motion unit, the motion units above and below the restricted area must contribute a larger than normal individual ROM in order for the regional ROM to remain unaffected. (C) When multiple subluxations are present, adjacent motion units may not be able to increase their individual ROM enough and the regional ROM will be decreased.
